The Osaka Metro 400 series (Japanese: 大阪メトロ400系, Hepburn: Ōsaka Metoro 400-kei) is an electric multiple unit (EMU) train type on order by Osaka Metro. A total of 23 six-car sets are to be built. They are due to enter service in April 2023 to replace the New 20 series units used on the Chuo Line.[1]

Design[edit]

The design of the 400 series will be reminiscent of a spaceship.[1]

Interior[edit]

Passenger accommodation will consist of longitudinal seating throughout, except for one car, which will feature single transverse seating. Passenger information displays will be install; they will provide information in four languages: Japanese, English, Chinese, and Korean.[1]

History[edit]

The trains were first announced by Osaka Metro on 9 December 2021.[1]
