World War II[edit]

the american flag after a battle

World world II was fought by more men, over the globe, with greater loss of life and destruction of property, than any other war.[1] There were 3 main dictators in the beginning of World War II. Mussolini, who took over Italy. For Italy 200,000 men were killed in battle. Tojo, who took over Japan. For Japan 1,500,000 men were killed in battle. Hitler, who took over Germany. For They had one thought in common and was that their races were meant to rule the world.[2]

  • Germany 3,250,000 men were killed in battle.
  • Russia lost 3,000,000 men in battle.
  • British Empire lost 400,000 men in battle.
  • USA lost 325,000 men in battle.
  • France lost 200,000 men in battle.

90 million soldiers took part, and 17 million of them died. which is like saying 1 out 5 of them died.[3] This war took a huge toll on the towns they took place. A total of 12,000,000 civilians, people who didn't even fight in this war, lost their lives. Some by bombs, others by sickness or starvation. 35,000,000 civilians were wounded.[4]

Europe[edit]

Hitler and Mussolini were the main rulers of the the Europe area. During the beginning of the war Hitler was planning to turn on Mussolini.[5]. Hitler had declared a ton of wars but, none on Russia. The fall of France had come, after Mussolini had also declared war on them. [6]. No matter how many bombs fell, troops died, or sleepless nights had happened, Britain would not give in. [7]. On June 22, 1941, Germany turned on Russia. Soon after Hitlers attack on Russia, and Japans attack on America, Hitler went to North Africa. He had conquered Europe.[8]. Hitlers main offense was Jews, he hated them and wanted them all dead! Thats what he planned to do.[9]. We were set to invade Europe, operation D-Day came into play on June 6, 1944.[10].

The Pacific[edit]

All this time Japan had not done anything. They were waiting for Germany to have the first victory. On December 7, 1941, Japan had attacked Pearl Harbor.[11]. The Japanese chose Decmeber 7th because they knew that all the ships would be in from training.[12] Japan sent a total of 360 planes and only 29 were lost [13]Within the next few days Japan, Germany, and Italy had declared war on America, and America declared war on them. [14]. Bataan is where the Japanese had captured 11,500 Americans. As they were marching to the prison camps hundreds of them dead from starvation and sickness.[15].
