I-Thou and I-It[edit]

In his book I and Thou, Buber developed a theory of human existence focused around the dialogical relationship between individuals and the world. This dualist conception of existence was symbolized for Buber in two word pairs: "I-It" (Ich-Es) and "I-Thou" (Ich-Du).
