I am the 'bot account under which all of Uncle G's automated and semi-automated editing tools run when major work is being performed.

It is intended that I will be flagged as a 'bot, as my edit load will flood recent changes. However, that is not the case yet, and all of my edits are currently subject to the usual scrutiny of edits made by pseudonymous users.

For details of the tools used, see User:Uncle G's 'bot.

Tasks[edit]

This is what I do.

Moving PFD sub-pages to AFD sub-pages[edit]

Roughly 260 articles have been created with discussion pages under Wikipedia:Pages for deletion. These are being moved to live under Wikipedia:Articles for deletion (stopping off at Wikipedia:Votes for deletion along the way in order to create a redirect and prevent duplicate discussions springing up). This task is being performed automatically, using a list scraped from Category:Pages for deletion being fed to a PFD-TO-AFD.btm script which wraps around two invocations of WIKIMOVE.exe.

In preparation for this work, placeholder redirects are being created at all of the missing Wikipedia:Votes for deletion sub-pages, by feeding the same list to a PFDFIX.btm script (which wraps WIKIPREPEND.exe), in order that duplicate discussions do not arise as a result of Template:vfd as it currently stands.

Moving VFD sub-pages to AFD sub-pages[edit]

It is intended that all of the sub-pages under Wikipedia:Votes for deletion be moved to sub-pages of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion.

(A few pages belong under Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion instead. These have already been moved. All of the sub-pages associated with the pages in Category:Pages on votes for deletion have also already been moved, re-colouring the redlinks on any articles nominated for deletion that are transcluding Template:vfd, rather than having it substituted.)

Such a move requires a list of all such pages. An incomplete list of sub-pages has been created by collecting all of the transclusions from all of the per-day AFD sub-pages for 2005 (20445 discussion sub-pages in total). This is currently being fed to a VFD-TO-AFD.btm script which wraps around WIKIMOVE.exe. A further list, comprising the remaining per-day listings (from 2004-12-25 onwards) has yet to be created. Creating a list of discussions prior to 2004-12-25 is more difficult, as there are no handy per-day lists to scan.

Moving IFD sub-pages to FFD sub-pages[edit]

All of the sub-pages under Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion are to be moved to sub-pages of Wikipedia:Files for deletion, to follow the renaming of the main page.

A list of sub-pages has been created (by simply listing all calendar dates for 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008). This is currently being fed to a IFD-TO-FFD.btm script which wraps around WIKIMOVE.exe. A further list, comprising a few remaining per-day listings (that use a different date format) has yet to be created. Those, like the remaining non-day pages at Special:Prefixindex/Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion/, are probably easiest to simply feed to the script by hand.

Mass blanking for CCI[edit]

All of the page creations listed at Wikipedia:Contributor copyright investigations/Darius Dhlomo are being blanked, with a notice informing editors that their copyright status reqires review and investigation.

The list created by VernoWhitney is being fed to a DHLOMO-PROCESS.cmd script which wraps around WIKIARTQRY.exe and WIKIPUT.exe.
