Hi. Thanks for reverting that user page vandalism, evidently he didn't enjoy the fact that I warned him for offensive comments/trolling on Talk:Muhammad! Also, as per your message regarding the AfD, I have struck out my vote so that you can close the discussion now; I agree that the article in its improved state isn't really deletion-worthy. Hey. I just got your message on songs pages, and I'm awfully sorry. I have been using Google to find references to these songs, but in news, I have to be a subscriber, and I don't have that kind of money. I do not even own a credit card. You could list for AFD, but I can't see it being deleted. B.A.D are notable per WP:MUSIC, and voters will have easy access to the last discussion. You would only get struck down for AFD'ing an article that needs improvement... my $00.02 -- Ļıßζېấשּׂ~ۘ Ώƒ ﻚĢęخ (talk) 02:19, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Possible AfDs[edit]

If you are looking for some good candidates to list at Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Albums and songs then you might want to look through the list at User:Alai/orphanalbum. Many of the articles have orphan tags because the artist has been deleted (not notable) or was never created in the first place.--Fisherjs (talk) 10:48, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

Michelle Leonard[edit]

Hi. You recently argued for the deletion of Michelle Leonard, initially on the grounds of being a hoax and then on the grounds that she is not notable. Since then, the page has been considerably re-written. She is demonstrably not a hoax and, I believe, there is now ample evidence of notability, so I thought you might want to re-consider your position in the deletion discussion. Invisible tire valves[edit]

I hadn't noticed that it was the creator's only contribution, whoops. The reason I didn't tag it for speedy is a) the length of time it had been around and b) that someone had apparently looked at it in April 07 and thought the issue was unclear notability, not hoax so I wasn't sure what to do. Transwiking Neopets plots?[edit]

I saw your comment that you were a Neopets user - I suggested to "transwiki" Neopets plots at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Neopets plots (2nd nomination) (if "transwiki" is the right term for non-Wikimedia wikis). But since I haven't been following Neopets wikis or such very much, would you know of a good place to transwiki to? I just suggested the Neopets Wikia on a quick Google search, but there's probably some place better. Thanks! —AySz88\^-^ 05:09, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

In response above, probably propose it to Pinkpt's Neodex? I'm sure the long, detailed articles that have been proposed for deletion here (Neopian Times, Faeries, Neopia, etc.) would be great over there.

Albert Hammond, Jr.'s second album[edit]

Hey I saw your comment for deletion. You say it has no "verifiable info" but all the tracks listed are songs confirmed by Albert himself in magazines and articles. I don't see how that's not verifiable. Even though the album is titleless, there are many articles like this all along wikipedia. I'm not saying this is right, but since there is nothing saying articles about upcoming albums without titles are banned, this should be a problem. Plus, ALbert has finished the album, and the title is sure to come soon. Then, the album page'll just be redirected and everyone will be happy again. So I implore you to keep the page. 23:20, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

"Crediting source"[edit]

Hi TenPoundHammer! Thanks for "clarifying" that I was the one transcluding Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Glomp (fifth nomination)... but I was deliberately leaving my name off it. I'm the poor chump who clears this backlog, nudging new editors in the right direction, solving coding snarl-ups and generally putting things right where I can. Wikipedia being a place where no good deed goes unpunished, when I do that and clearly mark I'm doing it, I still get credited with the deletion rationale and I still get all of the flack and none of the glory. So now I plan to not say anything. With a little shake of WP:AGF over my actions, this may make sense. And this is why I'm reverting you. ➔ REDVEЯS has changed his plea to guilty 08:34, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Song Redirects[edit]

Hit songs should be standalone articles, because they have sometimes been recorded by multiple artists. Redirects to one particular artist is not appropriate. Wiki lookups for song information/details are not informative if redirect effectively removes the song details and sends lookups to an artist.Wikibones (talk) 23:05, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Song Redirects (the bigger picture)[edit]

Why redirect a song to an artist or an album when songs have a life of their own often recorded by multiple artists? By example, look at the article on Burt Bacharach and several of his songs. Specifically you might look at "Baby It's You". The song is an article itself. By redirecting the song, you basically delete ALL other information about the song. The life of a song certainly has more dimensions than one recording. They are placed in films, used in TV shows, recorded by multiple artists, and win awards in their own right. A song like "If I Was A Drinkin' Man" has all the information related to the song in it's own article includine information on the songwriters, when it charted, the Awards it has won, etc. Once you redirect it to ONE particular album, or artist like Neal McCoy, it diminishes the song as an article,a nd wipes out all the researchable details. You asked me "What do you want me to do...", and I think the best answer is "nothing", because the song article already links to Neal McCoy without a redirect that wipes the song out. A researcher looking for information on the song "If I Was a Drinkin' Man" doesn't necessarily want to be redirected to Neal McCoy.Wikibones (talk) 12:37, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

Song Redirects (more thought)[edit]

I think what has come to light here is that we have "If I Was a Drinkin' Man" (the song) and "If I Was a Drinkin' Man" (the Neal McCoy recording). The song should not be redirected to Neal McCoy, but the recording should be. In the interest of preserving for researchers the songwriter and award information on the song, the song should be a standalone article.Wikibones (talk) 12:46, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

Carrie Underwood discography[edit]

Why did you mark Pyong for speedy deletion? It was an article about a very famous emoticon, one of which many people know about and it would be good to have a source to explain it's origin and creation. It was still in the process of being written and you delete it.

I was still in the process of adding reliable sources when you deleted it, I tried to update them and the page was already gone, I created the page like 5 minutes ago and then it was gone, you should have given me time...

Pyong[edit]

Yes, but if you keep requesting it be deleted, how can other people add their sources to the site and information they know that can make it notable. I may not know everything, but other people do, like I said. How will they be able to add it to a non-existent page? The Blogs come from respected people, and the single source that linked a forum was to prove the point that it was common. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tomoya-kun (talkcontribs) 22:18, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia's Five pillars state: "Wikipedia is an encyclopedia written for the benefit of its readers." This does not look like you are trying to benefit the readers. That is all I wanted to do, I did not want a big fight over something this simple.

"perfection is not required." It is not perfect now, but if you give it time. That would be why I labeled the article with an under construction sign which also states that you should give the article a few days before it is requested for deletion. Not 5 minutes.

Tomoya-kun (talk) 22:20, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

The reason I added it to this site is because it took me over 3 months to find the source of Pyong. Plenty of people used it. But not one could tell me where they found it because the creator is barley ever citied. This is why I created the page, so people do not need to search for months something can I can bring to their attention with a simple search. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tomoya-kun (talkcontribs) 22:24, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

An admirer of your work on AfD[edit]

Hi TenPoundHammer, I just wanted to write a note to introduce myself and say hello, I've seen your tag quite a bit on AfD and your comments always seem sane and thoughtful. Also I like your name. At any rate, I've been perusing AfD lately because I recently created a wiki, Wikipopuli, as a place to host biographical articles that do not impose a notability requirement. I'd noticed that quite a few people put up bios on Wikipedia only to have them taken down, so obviously it seemed that there might be a need for this sort of thing. (I understand why Wikipedia cannot allow WP:BIO-violating articles, and whether Wikipopuli will be able to survive in the face of potential problems remains to be seen). What I'm doing right now is putting notes on user talk pages of people who have created articles that are under deletion review for WP:BIO, letting them know that there's an alternative home for their material in case it gets booted. I've written to some of the other editors who are active in AfD, telling them about the site and inviting their input -- I want to be sure I'm seen as offering people something useful, and not spamming them. I'd certainly welcome your input as well. Thanks, TheYellowCabin (talk) 02:00, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

What's My Line?[edit]

I noted that you removed a large block of material under the heading Trivia with the edit summary stating kill unsourced trivia per WP:TRIVIA. While I'm fundamentally opposed to trivia sections, and discourage it's addition, WP:TRIVIA does not advocate simply removing such a section wholesale and in fact says "Trivia sections should not be categorically removed." The guideline advocates working such material into the article as much as possible, which is also what WP:HTRIV#Practical steps outlines, with further suggestions including tagging the section in question. I am the one who added the citations needed tags to the article, mostly because many of the points in that section are notable to the history of the program, including Emmy Award wins. I have returned the material to the article with a tag for trivia. Wildhartlivie (talk) 21:25, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Jypsi[edit]

Thanks for the response. Sory for the late reply.

Yes, I saw that issue that mentioned Moline. Here is a third party source that is not really any better then the one you listed but is more accurate. http://bebo.com/jypsi It lists Galena as hometown for the group. Galena is a larger more identifiable town nearer Woodbine. Woodbine is an extremely small one horse town that can be driven through in 30 seconds. Odds are if you ran into a family member on the street, they would say Galena as people may be be to identify with it. They would never say Moline.

I will look for a source that lists Woodbine.

Hey there TPH. I've closed the debates (as you're likely aware already) as redirects. I did not protect the titles, but gave User:Bwmoll3 fair warning about undoing what I did as potentially disruptive now that the debate is closed. He replied here that he considers the matter resolved and has apologied for his incivility on Seicer's talkpage. He asks that you try to do the same, specifically he has a problem with "pseudo-profanity" like Freakin' I would ask that you try to refrain from allcapping and adding freaking, et al to your posts where it is obvious that another editor is acting in a protective manner like the AfD. In other words, get your freaking otters of the keyboard. (I can use pseudo-profanity because I know my audience:) My recommendation? Song Redirects/Article Deletion Issue[edit]

Your continual attempts to redirect songs to specific artists or specific albums is creating an article deletion issue. I (and others) have noticed that your RfA application rejections are riddled with such "deletion issues" and though I hope it doesn't come to this, I will vigorously challenge your actions as they relate to song articles, and will bring in the support of professional songwriter associations and performing rights groups to have your song article deletions reversed. You need to understand that redirects on songs are the same as deleting the article. The obsession you have with this is wiping out song articles that often have a one-to-many relationship with artists, labels, songwriters, awards, and other valuable information to researchers, information that is lost with redirects.Wikibones (talk) 20:09, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
