The Navy of the People's Liberation Army of Yugoslavia (Serbo-Croatian: Mornarica narodnooslobodilačke vojske Jugoslavije - NOVJ) was the navy of the Yugoslav Partisans during World War II. After the swift defeat of the Royal Yugoslav Army during the Invasion of Yugoslavia in April 1941, the majority of the Royal Yugoslav Navy ship's and equipment were captured by Axis forces while the country's Adriatic coastline was divided betwen the Kingdom of Italy and the newly-created puppet states and protectorates. An armed uprising, led by the Communist Party of Yugoslavia, erupted shortly afterwards leading to the creation of various Partisan formations across Yugoslavia.
On 10 September 1942, a Naval platoon consisting of a handfull of personnell and two wooden-hulled fishing ships was formed by Partisan fighters in Podgora (present-day Croatia). Although poorely equiped, the Platoon served as the basis of the MNOVJ which w
