Edward Coverley Kennedy was a Royal Navy officer during World War II. He was captain of HMS Rawalpindi when it was sunk by the German battlecruser Scharnhorst between Iceland and the Faroe Islands, on 23 November 1939.[1] Kennedy went down with his ship.[2] He was the father of the BBC broadcaster Ludovic Kennedy.[3]
