Ticlopidine, sold under the brand name Ticlid, is a medication used to prevent stroke and coronary stent blockage.[1] It is only used in those who cannot take aspirin and when other options are not available.[1] It is taken by mouth.[1]

Common side effects include rash, low neutrophils, purpura, liver problems, and loss of appetite.[1] Due to side effects clopidogrel, ticagrelor, or prasugrel are generally used instead.[1] It is a platelet aggregation inhibitor, specifically a adenosine diphosphate receptor inhibitor.[1]

Ticlopidine was patented in 1973 and approved for medical use in 1978.[3] It was approved for medical use in the United States in 1991.[1] It is not commercially available in the United States as of 2021.[4]
