Clascoterone, sold under the brand name Winlevi, is a medication used to treat acne in those who are at least 12 years old.[2] It is applied to the skin as a cream.[2]

Common side effects include redness, itchiness, dry skin, and localized swelling.[2] Other side effects may include high potassium.[2] Safety in pregnancy is unclear.[2] It is an androgen receptor inhibitor.[2] There appears to be minimal absorption into the circulation, when applied to skin.[3]

Clascoterone was approved for medical use in the United States in 2020.[2] It is not approved in either the United Kingdom or Europe as of 2022.[4] In the United States a 60 gram tube costs about 480 USD as of 2022.[5]
