Well, I´m kinda new to all this participation, so I really don´t know what sort of thing one usually writes here. Anyway, as you might have read in the headline, I go by the username Misacek01. My real name is Michael, I´m 20 and I´m from the Czech republic.
I´ve been following Wikipedia for a few years now, and greatly admire the project and what it has grown to be. A short time ago, I started editing some of the more obscure pages, mostly from the area of science fiction, which is one of my hobbies. Shortly thereafter, I got an account, figuring that if someone actually cared enough for my contributions, for good or bad, to want to contact me, this would make it much easier.
My usual modus operandi is expanding pages that seem to have the need. I do not create new pages, as I do not consider myself knowledgeable enough to do so and as with over 2,5 million pages it really is quite hard to create a meaningful new article on the English Wikipedia. This relates to my opinion that the primary goal for Wikipedia now should be to try and attain a form and status comparable to a printed encyclopedia. (Yes, I have noticed that the hard core managing Wikipedia has well started on a way towards that goal, and has apparently put a lot of work therein, an effort that has earned my respect.) I also make it a point not to remove, unless I know for a fact that the information is bogus; I mostly add and/or rewrite sections that seem to not meet the local standards.
I have recently joined the WikiProject Babylon 5, as I am an avid fan of that TV series (one of very few in my country, where it has never been aired on any major channel). It seems to me as a good way to focus my efforts in the huge reservoir of self-assertion opportunities that is Wikipedia, or in short, to maybe make a visible difference. I have skimmed through some of the pages on the Babylon 5 fictional universe (out of curiosity, mostly), and found that there indeed is much that can be done there. Hereby I also would like to invite anyone with an interest in Babylon 5 and a care for Wikipedia to come and help us out on this one, in a way and extent of your choosing...
