Despite the advancement of technology, racial disparities involving health care for black women remains a prevalent issue. Pregnancy related mortality rates for black women are roughly two to three times higher than white women. This difference in mortality rates increase by maternal age. The pregnancy related mortality rates for Black women between the ages thirty to forty rises to over four times than that of white women within the same age group. Black women are also at higher risk of severe pregnancy morbidity, leading to conditions such as pre-eclampsia. According to the Government Accountability Office's recent analysis, the racial disparity regarding maternal death rates widened during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
