Eithinog and Brewery Fields is an area of fields and woodlands on the outskirts of Bangor in Gwynedd in the United Kingdom. For many years, the area was expected to be the site of a major housing development.

History[edit]

The site was owned by the county council as a legacy of the developments that had taken place in the 1960s and 70s. Outline planning permission had been granted on the site as early as 19XX. Nevertheless, the site was rented to local livestock owners, particularly for horses. The process of gathering hay had historically helped keep the soil low in nutrients, resulting in acid grassland.

In the early 1990s, Gwynedd Council's plans became expected to result in the development of the whole area. Local protest groups were formed to campaign against the plans. Additionally, a local Earth First! group began to focus on the issue.

In the mid 1990s, the opposition and protests culminated in two camps and evictions.

Sales of the site[edit]

The site was sold to the North Wales Wildlife Trust for £1 in 200x.^[1] 2005 plans cut number of homes^[2]
