IMPROVE/VERIFY WHAT IT STATES ON IMDB:

"Though Myrna was born and raised in the Los Angeles area, she would have never really known that growing up. She spent must of her childhood in Tijuana, Baja California with her grandmother or on her family ranch in Acton, California. In her early teens her family moved to the quiet suburbs of Santa Clarita, where out of boredom Myrna gravitated to rock music and the stage. She dabbled in dance for many years, but never really finding the exact creative expression she was looking for; she found herself reading plays out loud in her room. Though it was very clear that acting was her first love, she had many doubts in her ability to "make it" in the field, and opted to go to college for a degree in writing. By her final year, when asked what she wanted her thesis to be the only response she could give was, "Acting." Myrna forsake the college degree to fully dedicate herself to pursuing a career in the booming film industry that was in her very own backyard. From the get go, she's had many success commercially: being featured next to Will.i.am in a Coca-Cola campaign, she also flaunts her Mexican roots with several Spanish Market campaigns ranging from McDonalds to Chevy. Theatrically, Myrna has had the privilege to work on versatile roles in both film and television. She's been everything from a gun toting thug to a blushing bride, a nerdy burger girl to a bratty high school drama queen. She looks forward to the next role that will challenge her with excitement and the understanding of how lucky she already is."- https://www.imdb.com/name/nm3609729/bio/?ref_=nm_ov_bio_sm

Career[edit]

DC Super Hero Girls[edit]

In 2019, Velasco began one of her well-known roles, as Jessica Cruz / Green Lantern, a protagonist of DC Super Hero Girls.[5][6] Velasco later said that she tapped into her own anxiety and clinical depression when doing the voice work, said she was "lucky enough" to work on the show, and said that her character inspired her to be "as open as possible".[7]

Velasco would later voice the same character in video games,[8] and animated shorts.[9] She also voiced the same character in the 2022 film Teen Titans Go! & DC Super Hero Girls: Mayhem in the Multiverse.[7][10][11] She later appeared on panels at WonderCon and other conferences with other voice actors and crew from the series.[12]

Other work[edit]

She also is known for voicing two recurring characters in other series, specifically Carla Delgado in Elena of Avalor,[13] from 2017 to 2020, and Torra Doza in Star Wars Resistance, from 2018 to 2020.[14][15][16] In the latter series, the character had a prominent role in the series, especially in the show's second season.[17][18][19] She was later interviewed about the role on "Friends of the Force, a Star Wars fan podcast.[20]

From 2020 to 2022, Velasco voiced a villain, Escarlata La Pirata, in Santiago of the Seas, which she described as a "wholesome fun show" and said her character is based of Scarlett O’Hara in Gone with the Wind. She also stated that character was "very dramatic and silly."[7] In 2021, Velasco voiced Lucia in the third season of Madagascar: A Little Wild. Velasco said that the series had been her "favorite thing to work on" and that she was very excited for it.[7] In 2022, Velasco voiced Coco Diablo, a girlfriend of Velma Dinkley in the film Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo!,[21][22]

Velasco, in 2022, voiced Wonder Girl and Lara in Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons,[23][24][25] Previously, she also was a guest star named Mimi in an episode of the live-action series, Sydney to the Max.[citation needed], voiced the one-time character, Kim, in Big City Greens.[citation needed], and CJ in Descendants: Wicked World.[26]

In June 2023, it was announced that Velasco would be the voice of Tater Ramírez-Humphrey, the 10-year-old protagonist of Primos, and Gordita and Chacha, who are cousins of Tater.[27][28] Following criticism of the show's trailer on social media, including from Latinos and Mexicans, Velasco stated on her Instagram that the Spanish language was forced on people in Latin America by the conquistadors and defended the series.[29][30]

Personal life[edit]

Velasco is Mexican-American, Indigenous, and a member of SAG-AFTRA.[29][30][31]
