The University of Wisconsin–River Falls Women's Lacrosse club team is fairly new to the school with only being around for a few years now but has been making a lot of progress. Currently River Falls is in the North Central Women's Lacrosse League, which is considered one of the highest leagues for club lacrosse in the area. In 2011 UWRF had been added to US Lacrosse Women's Collegiate Lacrosse Associates (WCLA) Division II National Championship field, replacing College of St. Benedict, which was unable to play. A total of 24 teams played in Scottsdale, Arizona for the event.[1]They play teams such as: Iowa State University, University of Iowa, UW-Eau Clair, St. Bens, NDSU, UMD, St. Olaf and many more. Every year the women's lacrosse team hosts a fall and spring UWRF Play Day. The Play Day consists of various teams getting together to squeeze in extra practice games during the fall and in the spring in consists of making up missed or cancelled games.

Issues[edit]

The Women Lacrosse team has only been active for about 3 years. With having the title of a club team and not an actual Division III Lacrosse team the biggest obstacle is the problem with money. Being a club sport, the club team doesn't receive financial support like a Division III UWRF team would. They do receive some money which is around $4,000 in funding from the Allocable Fees Appropriation Board (AFAB) but that number does vary from year to year. The rest of the money used to operate the club comes from the players and fundraising which can be very difficult. [2][3]
