"Rush Hour" is the second episode of the fourth season of the Canadian TV series Continuum, and the series' 38th episode overall. The episode aired September 11, 2015 on Showcase.[1] The episode was written by Shelley Eriksen and directed by Patrick Williams.

Plot[edit]

Following on immediately from the previous episode, Kellog (Stephen Lobo) watches the hologram message from his future self informing him that he has to trust the soldiers and aid them in anyway they require. In the morning, Kiera (Rachel Nichols) and Alec (Erik Knudsen) are discussing the future soldiers and Kiera hands over the pen device that she stole from the soldiers. Kellog then sends Alec a picture of Emily (Magda Apanowicz) in a closet before phoning him and demanding that he returns the data that he stole.

While Lucas (Omari Newton), Julian (Richard Harmon) and Jason (Ian Tracey) put Kellog's information onto a portable hard drive, Kiera convinces Alec to let her go to Carlos (Victor Webster) in order to create a backup plan in case Kellog doesn't hold up his side of the bargain, while there, Kiera admits that she would go home in a heartbeat and that she had a dream of being at home after being flung into the truck in the previous episode.

Marcellus (Ty Olsson), one of the future soldiers, goes to Kellog with a list of supplies that he requires. While there he explains that if the future version of Kellog did not tell the past version of Kellog the plan then neither could he, however Kellog still agrees to help them. Later, Carlos arrives to question Kellog about Emily's (Magda Apanowicz) disappearance, although Kellog denies all involvement in the matter. Dillon (Brian Markinson) enters and reveals himself to be Kellog's new head of security.

Kiera and Brad (Ryan Robbins) meet up and discuss the future soldiers, with Brad informing her of Marcellus' meeting with Kellog and Kiera informing him that the soldiers' activity is being blamed on Liber8. Brad then tells her that she needs to return the pen-like device that she stole. Kiera return's to Alec's apartment and receives the hard drive before heading to meet Kellog. Meanwhile, Alec also leaves to go and find Emily.

After handing the hard drive over to Dillon, Kiera changes into the dress that Kellog provided before sitting down and refusing Kellog's attempt at small talk, instead asking for proof that Emily is still alive. Elsewhere, Alec arrives at the warehouse where Emily is being held, and request the guard to let him see Emily, believing that the guard will see him as the other him who died in the third season finale. As the get close to her, the guard pulls a gun out on him while Emily is beating the other guard up on the other side of the door. Alec and Emily then both attack the final guard and escape, with Lucas (Omari Newton) notifying Kiera through her suit.

However, Travis (Roger Cross) and Garza (Luvia Petersen) utilize a chemical weapon hidden within the candles to try and kill Kellog. Kiera manages to get him out before heading to the nearby pond and drowning him in it in order to flush out the gas from his lungs. Whilst Kiera attempts to save him, Carlos rams his car into Travis', toppling it. In the confusion Garza escapes while Travis and Carlos fight, with Dillon arriving just in time to save Carlos' life.

Garza attempts to get Kiera to help her break Travis out, but instead takes her to Alec's place where she learns that Lucas has joined Kiera's team, prompting her to do the same. Meanwhile, Emily is taking a bath when Jason (Ian Tracey) walks in, where he also reveals that Emily is not his mother in 2077. Curtis (Terry Chen) arrives at Piron where Kellog asks him why he had Liber8 try to kill him while Curtis tells Kellog that Kiera will make it back to her time. Back at Alec's place, Emily leaves the table early and begins packing her things, believing that she is Alec's Achilles heel and that she can be used against him.
