Cex[edit]

What specifically are your concerns? I saw your recent changes and comments, and I think it's clear (to me) that this falls well within the provisions of WP:BIO and WP:MUSIC. Specifically:

  • Recording musicians who have sold more than 5,000 albums, CDs, or similar recordings (WP:BIO) - the information site linked in the article does have some pressing figures for the earlier recordings. More recent labels like Jade Tree and Temporary Residence almost certainly have sold this number, though I can't source it at the moment (but can ask).
  • Has gone on an international concert tour, or a national concert tour in at least one large or medium-sized country[1], reported in notable and verifiable sources. (WP:MUSIC) - his tour history shows extensive tours in Europe and Japan, and he's participated in All Tomorrow's Parties and Sonar, which are well-acknowledged festivals.
  • Has released two or more albums on a major label or one of the more important indie labels (i.e. an independent label with a history of more than a few years and a roster of performers, many of which are notable). - Tigerbeat6, Jade Tree, Temporary Residence...I'm probably missing a few more, but these labels are all well-known within the indie music scene and many of their bands already have entries here
  • Has been featured in multiple non-trivial published works in reliable and reputable media (excludes things like school newspapers, personal blogs, etc...). (WP:MUSIC) - Rolling Stone profile, which appeared in print in February 2003

Anyway, hope that satisfies the question. Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. Thanks! Girolamo Savonarola 01:57, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

WP:BIO[edit]

Thanks for your note and encouragement. Here is a bit of background on the reason for the article.

The subject of the piece, Thomas-Jacques Taschereau, is the patriarch of a famous French Canadian family which is why I posted this stub. I did a number of the family as part of a project known as the DoCB Initiative. I really hope someone comes along and improves it. Cheers! (Stormbay 23:37, 27 March 2006 (UTC))

WP:EARLY[edit]

Copied from User talk:Werdna648.

Hi Werdna, thanks for making a contribution to this proposed policy. I'd be interested to hear more of your views on it on its talk page, whenever you have a spare moment. As I think you know its primary goal is to cut out a lot of back-biting and flaming on (usually) doomed AfDs. I have to say it was formed in mind with a bit more controversy than the debate you highlighted, that displayed the warning signs but never really went the distance. I think it's important not to give the impression that this policy would be used hastily, and as such I hope you don't mind that I've removed your addition. I do think including debates where the policy could work (I have highlighted a few when commenting on AfDs) is a great idea and encourage you to include more examples, ideally current ones. Cheers! Deizio 14:49, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

I guess the link didn't really do the situation justice. My user[talk] page got vandalised about 4 times in the debate, it escalated to edit-warring over the AfD template with 3 established users and about 6 meatpuppets, sneaky talkpage-vandalism (changing all the comments to appear to come from me), and a recreated page deleted a bit later with a result of something like 15-2 to delete. In any case, I'll keep an eye out for better examples of debates where this policy might apply. Werdna648T/C\@ 00:18, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

David Heymann[edit]

Hello Deiz, I just wanted to let you know that the David Heymann article has changed significantly since it was listed for deletion. A couple of other editiors have helped me significantly with the piece. We did find many more references in the mainstream media about him and the house, including quotes from Heymann, the George W. Bush and Laura Bush. So, that addresses one of your two concerns.
We have not yet found a list of his publications. That may or may not mean that he does not publish much. I've e-mailed him to ask for a list, so we'll see if he replies.
In the meantime, since three of his commissions have received attention in the press, the article has been refocused on his accomplishments as an architect, rather than as a professor.
I don't know if this makes any difference (up or down) in your inclination to keep or delete the article, but I thought I would let you know. If you have any other suggestions, I'd be happy to try to incorporate them into the article. Best, Johntex\talk 17:13, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

Welcome[edit]

Hi. Have you visited WP:SCOWNB yet? Give it a Watch, and sign up at the bottom if you like: you are very welcome.

I'm really sorry about reverting your couple of sentence addition at the Portal:Scotland. I almost only deleted the 2nd sentence, but it that Intro is already a little too long. --Mais oui! 19:29, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

Mmmm... yeah. I really do regret the tendency for us Scots, including Wikipedian Scots, to dwell far, far too much upon history, at the cost of modern topics. The history articles are excellent and profuse. The contemporary ones are OK, but patchy quality and far from comprehensive. Modern history (19th and 20th century); economic history; WWII; etc etc are utterly absent! We have an awful lot of work to do.
In answer to your query at CFD: see Category:Edinburghers. I too am one, although unlike you I was quite familiar with the term while growing up; although admittedly it has lower currency than Aberdonian, Dundonian, Glaswegian, Paisley Buddy etc, etc. --Mais oui! 20:03, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

"restoring removed categories :United Kingdom and :British Isles, no reason to delete"[edit]

Actually, there is strong precedent to delete those two cats from the Scotland article itself. Where an article has its own category it is standard practice to have all other categories at the category, not at the article. Some Users disagree and "double-up", but this issue is certainly not cut-and-dried. Personally, I find it a nuisance: it just clogs up categories with needless duplicate entries.--Mais oui! 12:57, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, but I won't bother. If I do it then I suspect that it will be automatically reverted. I'll just wait for someone doing routine cat maintenance to sort it out. Actually, from Scotland-interested editors' point of view, it is actually excellent to have our main article listed in as many places as possible, so in this case it suits me fine! --Mais oui! 13:09, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

Metal Poll[edit]

Hello there. I am an overseer of your brain. I have come to tell you that the Wikimetal Project is holding a poll on the inclusion of certain genres on the heavy metal template and footer that goes onto metal related articles. This poll has a closing date, however, and so here i am, reminding you to vote if you want to, by pumping strange chemicals through your veins. Its hard work being a brain you know!

If you would like to help in this crucial part of the project, the page is here. No, thats not it? Oh my! I posted those pictures of myself, what a devil i am. No the actuall link is here on this link.

I guess ill see you at breakfest when you finally recover from Wikipedia. Bye for now body, your Brain 07:00, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

I cannot thank you enough![edit]

In my edits, I try as I can to incorporate every general view of the topic at hand to in the end create a NPOV article, and my biggest problem was users removing the extra information, thus making the article POV. I am relieved to hear something is being done about this. Thank you again, --Ryouga 18:49, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

Ley Shade's 'Revenge'[edit]

I am unsure to whom I should tell this to, but in case you didn't know IP address 86.143.126.71 has been vandalistically reverting all pages I have made any edits to, and I am convinced this is Ley Shade. S/he has reverted and vandalised all the pages I have made any edits to, and dirtied up the page again from previous cleanups. This was obviously done as an attack against me. Please do whatever you can...I am sure we can expect to see more anonymous users appear and spring these attacks against my contributions. Thank you --Ryouga 23:50, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

This IP is me, the other i do not know, nor do i make a habit of getting in revert wars using IP Adresses. However, i have a message for Ryouga, to which they should stop attacking and changing the articles, until i am unblocked and in a position to discuss the reasoning for the reverts with them properly. 86.132.129.203 00:03, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

Re:Anon[edit]

Thank you very much. And I was actually thinking that s/he would cause LESS trouble after so much blocking...I guess some people just don't learn. I'll be on watch whenever I can for more 'attacks' on pages I recently edited. I hope s/he isn't going to rotate IPs, that would cause major problems. Thanks again. --Ryouga 00:01, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

86.132.129.203[edit]

This ip is doing the same exact thing. Check the contributions, reverting all my edits under leyasu's name. I don't understand what her/his problem is. --Ryouga 00:05, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

Major problems[edit]

Leyasu is being very stuck up. Look at this page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Administrator_intervention_against_vandalism I don't know what to do now.

Deiz[edit]

Im not being stuck up Deiz, and ive explained my position to Ryouga, and where their errors lie. When Ryouga as let this escapade die, i wish to speak to you regarding the poll, as i think you misjudged my intentions on moving it.

Indeed i moved it for a reason, they are below:

1) Closing debates: Someone started closing them at random, leaving calls of bias open, so i stated that they would all be closed at the same time.

2) Cluttering up the talk page, better on its own article due to its size

3) I probally fucked up explaining the poll, so if you want to dart and clean that up so more people understand its purpose that would be grand. Teamwork is better than hostility.

Regarding the Ryouga issue, i suggest staying out of it Deiz. I have no bad blood with you, and though we bumped heads its mainly because of me not explaining the poll situation. As for Ryouga, they know my position, and this will end when they stop trying to violate policys for their own ends. 86.132.133.113 00:29, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

  • As far as Ryouga goes, I'm going to stick to my word and list his concerns on WP:AE. He's new and he's been bitten hard by somebody. As you say, we've never had bad blood and for better or worse I enjoy the sport of working with you a lot more than most, but there are problems here that need to be investigated. I'll get back to the poll tomorrow, I hope you're back on under your own name and we can work on it. Deizio 00:39, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

Leyasu and I are currently trying to work something out...I hope this goes well, but right now I do feel a little astonished seeing all my edits all gone, it seems a huge waste. Hopefulyl something can be worked out by all 3 of us and we can get these articles corrected. --Ryouga 00:55, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

Oh, my bad, in that case I will just wait for the ban to be lifted. --Ryouga 19:41, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

the "relatives" debate[edit]

No worries. Keep swinging, and we'll come to a resolution that everyone can live with. I'm sure some will be deleted and others kept, which will then make us figure out (as I was clearly unable to do with any success) what to do with the remaining articles. Plus, a lively and polite debate makes for good theatre, if nothing else. :^) --Mike Selinker 19:24, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

A Question[edit]

If you remember me you gaved me some tips when I was starting out. I would like to ask you for an advice: Some editors prefer to put discography of bands into a table with the names of the albums, year, record company and a 50px picture of the album cover. However that is simlpy unnecessary because 50px pictures don't show nothing buth a little smudge, no additional information is placed (except for the record companys name but who wants to know that) and pages become crowded and hard to read through. Especially pages are hard to load even with a fast computer and a broad-band line. I didn't wanted to simply remove the table because that would lead into an edit war ceartinly and I am not sure how to spread the message to people. I have asked user Spearhead but he didn't replyed. If you have any thoughts on how to solve this please let me know. An example of such a page would most prominently be King Diamond among others. Death2 00:36, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, thanks, but on The Fireball Ministry page it's ok when you have a small number of albums. To point my problem on Andy LaRocques page there was a normal list of his work (there is plenty of it more than 50 albums) and somebody introduced the table but only for King Diamond albums. So now the page looks fragmented, clumsy etc... It would be ok but it just doesn't fit in, and tables could be in the bands page for discography but not on the biography pages. Those pages are to represent a person, and a list of his works (if it is an artist..) and not a bunch of tables that make the page look like a circus! But thanks for the advice anyway. If somebody comes with those tables on one of the pages I worked on mainly... See ya! Death2 07:48, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

Portal:Portugal[edit]

Hello! Check out Portal:Portugal and help. It really needs more contributors. I've noticed your new wikiproject Porto. I live in Santa Maria da Feira, if I can help, just say something. Thanks! Afonso Silva 16:11, 19 April 2006 (UTC)

About chillin'[edit]

Damn, you're right. I thought WP:CHILL was about taking a break from revert wars, breathing deeply, etc. I must have mistaken it for another page. Do you know of one about chilling in that sense? It would come in useful right now... IronChris | (talk) 02:35, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

CSD:A7[edit]

Thank you for your support and encouragement in the {{db-web}} TFD debate, when you wrote: "would be very useful to show people posting webby vanity/ads/cruft that just because stuff is on the web it isn't necessarily suitable for WP. However, deletion is a touchy subject and it needs to go through the right process first. If it gets deleted, I would encourage George to stick at it and try to get consensus for it first." I have taken your advice, and begun the discussion here. GeorgeStepanek\talk 09:29, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

Calm down[edit]

(note - User:Kashk has deleted the flipside of this debate from his talk page. In the interests of full disclosure the debate has been preserved at User:Deiz/Iranian metal debate, where it can be found in the history after that page was edited by the same user)

Chill out, before you send that message I had already proposed the article should be deleted for now and I had redirected it to Metal in Iran which is a more appropriate title. Leave it out until I re-write the article. -- - K a s h Talk | email 00:03, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

I won't have good luck with it all if your buddy spearhead keeps going on with his project of Metal is islamic countries! It's offensive to Iranian metal. It should not be categorized in this way. Political situation of a country should not be the category for music. For reasons I have explained in his talk page and now at Talk:Heavy_metal_in_Islamic_countries#Delete. I don't know how I can make him understand this simple fact. -- - K a s h Talk | email 09:03, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

OK I have put it up for AfD @ Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Heavy metal in Islamic countries -- - K a s h Talk | email 09:11, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

I still don't understand why you think its not notable when that list you removed had over 100 or so bands. You have to understand that most of these bands if not 100% of them, are all in the capital. Therefore there is a huge scene there and its very controvertial and to say that it is not notable is just your and your western POV. I believe it should be on Wikipedia but if we want to comprimise we should keep it at Metal in Iran or even under have it as a paragraph in Iranian rock and alternative music, which although is very much more unique than Iranian metal. -- - K a s h Talk | email 09:45, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
If you read the bloody criteria at that page you keep posting, you will see that they feed the criteria. If you don't know or unsure about it, then just trust me on the case. -- - K a s h Talk | email 12:56, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
I know what needs to be done my friend, I said I am busy, I have 5 exams in two weeks, I don't have time to do it at this moment.I thought you have no interest on the topic, now you keep telling me to write articles about it? I told you the first time, I will, but later.-- - K a s h Talk | email 13:51, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
Yes, I am a dedicated contributer, thanks for reminding both me and yourself about this. I ask you not to contact me from now as I am irritated by it. Leave article discussions to the article talk pages. -- - K a s h Talk | email 14:05, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
Stay WP:Civil, do not harass me and do no accuse me of not knowing wikipedia guidelines. I am familiar with all that. You are the one who is not familiar with the case and keeps bringing up policies. The rock music scene of Iran has been verified in its own article, metal scene is just a small part of it. If you contact me about this nonsense one more time I will have to start an admin report on your harassments. I have asked you many times not to get involved in the case as you obviously are clueless about it. -- - K a s h Talk | email 14:30, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

CheckUser for Leyasu[edit]

I don't think the request has been processed yet. Very few people have the rights for doing a CheckUser, and of the ones who do, only a couple actually check WP:RFCU and carry out requests. That, and not all of the completed requests have been moved to Completed Requests; so it's very possible that the people with CheckUser rights just haven't seen the request because of the backlog.

Yesterday, I posted at Wikipedia talk:Administrator's noticeboard asking more admins to watch WP:AE; but it seems like I'm just talking to a wall over there. I might have to just block Leyasu myself, but I really don't want to since there might be a conflict of interest, since I was a party in the arbitration case. I was advised against blocking Leyasu by Dmcdevit; you can see what Dmcdevit said in this diff. (Although, there have been parties in other arbitration cases who blocked users with whom they were in arb cases. And we both realize that Leyasu can't just run free for breaking revert parole, so clearly something has to be done.) --Idont Havaname (Talk) 19:43, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

Jayjg has now replied to the request for CheckUser and said that it is highly likely that the anons are sockpuppets of Leyasu. Due to the nature of CheckUser, he is probably not allowed to say much more. --Idont Havaname (Talk) 20:26, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
I'm not trying to make excuses about it or anything, but I am still in a dispute with Leyasu and several others at Talk:Gothic metal, so I do have a conflict of interest. I'll ask Ryan Delaney to block Leyasu, since Ryan set the 48-hour block on April 15. --Idont Havaname (Talk) 01:21, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
Tony Sidaway blocked Leyasu for a week today. He's also replied to my post at WP:AE. --Idont Havaname (Talk) 19:56, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
