Established in 2002, by the International Allelopathy Foundation, and named after Prof. Elroy L. Rice, the author of the first book written in English on the subject of Allelopathy; the PROF. RICE ALLELOPATHY DATA BASE (RADB) is an extensive collection of allelopathy literature, made up of photocopies of Reprints and Abstracts.
Prof. Elroy Leon Rice (1917-2000), Norman, Oklahoma, at the University of Oklahoma is known as one of the "Fathers of Allelopathy."[1] Others also given that title are Hans Molisch (1856-1937) and Andrei Grodzinsky (1926-1988), the father of allelopathy in the Soviet Union [2]
The term allelopathy appears to have been first used by Professor Hans Molisch and refers to any process involving secondary metabolites produced by plants, microorganisms, viruses and fungi that influence the growth and development of agricultural and biological systems.[3]
