Scandinavian influence in Minnesota[edit]

The largest immigration of Scandinavians from the countries of Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and Iceland, to America arguably was in Minnesota. The influence of this ethnic group pervaded all aspects of society, culture, law, politics, and business, creating the modern day notion that Scandinavians, notably Norwegian (the highest immigrant group) is the foundation of Minnesotan society, though German ancestry is the recorded majority.

Rudy Kraemer Nature Preserve[edit]

The Rudy Kraemer Nature Preserve is an approximately 25 acre nature reserve in Burnsville, Minnesota located near the Kraemer Quarry operated by Edward Kraemer and Sons.[1] Completed and dedicated in 1994, the nature preserve is one of several environmental off-sets for the expansion of the quarry site in the mid-1990s.[2]

In Burnsville's northwest corner, located south of Highway 13 and north of Williams Drive, the preserve is open to the public under the Burnsville Parks Department with a parking lot and walking trails. It is adjacent to Sue Fischer Memorial Park. Recently the preserve has become one of the anchors of the developing Dan Patch Trail, a public walking and biking corridor through the Minnesota River valley. [3]
