About[edit]

The workshop consists of two parts, both to be held on March 25, 2014, in Hamburg (see also #Logistics):

  • 10:00-12:00 an introduction to Wikipedia and its sister projects, along with some basics about the technicalities of contributing and the policies and practices around that.
  • 13:00-17:00 a hands-on session that puts those theoretical basics into practice by actually contributing to Wikimedia projects of your choice in the language(s) of your choice.

Both parts can be attended individually or in combination. Participants who only come for the afternoon part are expected to know the basics from the morning part already or to have some practical experience with contributing to at least one Wikimedia project.

The workshop will be given by Daniel Mietchen, a researcher at the Museum für Naturkunde in Berlin whose contributions to Wikimedia projects can be found here.

More information will be made available on a regular basis until the workshop starts. For a similar workshop given in the past, see here.
