My views on deleting redirects, in no particular order:

  • Deletion is preferable to a bad retarget.
  • A demonstrably useful redirect should be kept.
  • “No mention at target” isn't necessarily a good deletion rationale.
  • Vague redirects which could refer to multiple targets should be deleted, or disambiguated if there are more than two reasonable targets.
  • Interwiki redirects, if they are functioning, should be kept, because they have the potential to serve the reader.
  • Misspellings should be kept; it is harmless to save typo-making readers a few clicks.
  • A target that does not tell the reader much more than the title of the redirect does is not a good target. Similarly:
  • Just because a page mentions the title of a redirect doesn’t mean it’s a good target.
  • Misleading redirects should be deleted.
  • The unlikely-search-term-ness of redirects exists on a spectrum, not as a binary good/bad. Very unlikely search terms should be deleted through WP:RPURPOSE, likely search terms should be kept, and borderline cases should be kept too, as potentially helpful.
  • Don’t worry about performance, but maybe worry about cluttering search results.
  • Give the reader what they want, not what you want.
