This page is all Holy War issues. Don't edit, but feel free to comment on the talk page. Don't be surprised if I don't bother responding, or do so harshly.

Fair Use Policy[edit]

Because of rampant copyright paranoia, fair use images are not allowed outside of the main article namespace. Even when legal use can be established, Wikipedia still says "no" to it.

On Kilobytes and Kibibytes[edit]

A kilobyte is 210 bytes, a megabyte is 220 bytes, and so on. To hell with the IEC, IEEE, or any other standards body. I use kilobyte in the way it's meant from day one and I won't change. I don't care if I'm banned from here (as a certain highly knowledgable person I know was[1]), I will continue to use the term properly as based on its real meaning, rather than what some con artist hard drive companies and their standards body cronies are trying to change it to.

CSD A7 Considered Harmful[edit]

7. An article about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content that does not indicate why its subject is important or significant. This is distinct from questions of verifiability and reliability of sources, and is a lower standard than notability; to avoid speedy deletion an article does not have to prove that its subject is notable, just give a reasonable indication of why it might be notable. A7 applies only to articles about web content or articles on people and organizations themselves, not articles on their books, albums, software and so on. Other article types are not eligible for deletion by this criterion. If controversial, as with schools, list the article at Articles for deletion instead.

As a criterion for article deletion I have no problem with criterion 7. However, I believe that as a criterion for speedy deletion it can do, and in fact does, harm, especially if applied before an article gets to the point where it can challenge deletion on the principle. It doesn't help that articles have been deleted under this criterion that aren't supposed to be covered by it.

The Deletionist Scourge[edit]

What is up with all the deletionists working to destroy the usefulness and rich content of Wikipedia? All you deletionists, GTFO and take your rules lawyering ways with you.
