ICOBOL is a dialect of Programming language COBOL. The full name is Interactive COBOL. According to the vendor, there are more than 30 customers in the industries such as banking, finance, healthcare, dentistry, retail, wholesale, transportation and utilities.[1]

History[edit]

In 1977, Data General Corporation introduced the first version of ICOBOL. Envyr Corporation was founded in 1987 by three ex-employees of Data General with a vision to carry the application portability to 32-bit Intel microprocessors.[2].

Egan Systems, Inc., located in New York, was the parent company and was responsible for marketing, sales, distribution, and administration with regard to the products mentioned on this site. Envyr Corporation, located in North Carolina, was a wholly owned subsidiary of Egan Systems, Inc. and was responsible for the design, development, and support of those same products.[3]
