User:Mr. Bill Senders (Ph. D.) Deleted

Dear CactusWriter,

I am new to the world of Wikipedia and I created my first page earlier today. If you could tell me why you deleted my page- I do not understand the grounds upon which you performed this action- I would be thrilled. Also, would it be possible to refer me to where I can retrieve the content you deleted- I was typing for a very long time today and I saved nothing.

Thank you for your cooperation. Mr. Bill Senders (PhD) (talk) 01:57, 20 January 2017 (UTC)

Hi, User:Mr. Bill Senders. That page was deleted for "blatant misuse of Wikipedia as a web host". Although there's some latitude on user page content, this is allowed only for editors who have made good edits to the Wikipedia project. Please note, however, that Wikipedia is not a host for an individual's creative writings or absurd fiction. If you wish to contribute encyclopedic content, I suggest you read the links provided in the welcome message on your talk page. Regards. CactusWriter (talk) 16:18, 20 January 2017 (UTC)

List of RHI seasons

This is a package of a mass deletion by one editor. Please restore all so we can sort out the damage already inflicted.Trackinfo (talk) 18:51, 23 January 2017 (UTC)

Hi, Trackinfo. That page consists of nothing but a list of redlinks to articles which were deleted following an AFD discussion resulting in a consensus of delete. However, I have moved the article to User:Trackinfo/List of RHI seasons in case you wish to refer to it in any discussion. If you wish to have the articles restored, then I suggest you open a discussion at WP:Deletion review. I also request that you do not move the List back into main space until a discussion results in consensus to do so. Cheers. CactusWriter (talk) 19:10, 23 January 2017 (UTC)

Restoration of a page

Hi there,

Can you please restore the page Draft:Orion Health so I can edit (overhaul) it. I accidentally submitted this for review without making changes to the last deletion and would like to keep some of the formatting.

Apologies, I thought I was editing the draft and submitted instead of saving!

ConnorJClements (talk) 21:17, 23 January 2017 (UTC)

Hi, ConnorJClements. The Draft:Orion Health page has been declined numerous times for failure to meet the required standards of encyclopedic content. This is typical for articles written by editors with a clear bias and conflict-of-interest -- which is why we advise people not to write about themselves or their employers. Despite doubts, I have restored the article to your user space. See User:ConnorJClements/sandbox. I suggest that you read carefully the comments made by previous reviewers, discuss with them the current problems and make a concerted effort to fix the article's deficiencies (e.g., lack of significant coverage by independent reliable sources) before resubmitting it. Good luck with your editing. CactusWriter (talk) 16:14, 24 January 2017 (UTC)

Understood, I appreciate it and will endeavor to use the feedback to make the necessary changes.

Corinna Hasofferett

Dear CactusWriter, Can you help with the issue? You happened to delete the Corinna Hasofferett page unaware that I had no idea there is a problem. The reason given for the action pertained only to a small section - a text copied from the non active Archipelago zine, which I was asked by the editor to provide. It might take ages for me to connect with the editor. Therefore I prefer to have the said text deleted. Could you undelete the page under this understanding and then I'll delete that text and replace it with non violated one and then continue to complete the page with a long lists of citation and relevant information for the benefit of the English readers interested in learning in full about the notability of the Corinna Hasofferett personality. If only possible, a Hebrew reader to verify my citation might be most helpful. In Thanks, --שוחרת (talk) 19:48, 25 January 2017 (UTC)שוחרת

Hi Corinna Hasofferett. I have restored the deleted article -- sans copyright violation text -- and it can be found in your user space at User:שוחרת/Corinna Hasofferett. Please note that we strongly discourage individuals from creating autobiographies on Wikipedia. As you can understand, writing about oneself creates a clear conflict-of-interest and can violate the neutral point-of-view principle which is a foundation of an encyclopedic article. It is generally observed that If your life and achievements are verifiable and genuinely notable, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. I suggest you read the guidelines WP:AUTOBIOGRAPHY before proceeding. There is also a "Userpage Draft" notice at the top of the article now. After you have finished writing the draft (and adding all the necessary references), you can then submit it for review where it will be checked for compliance with Wikipedia criteria. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. CactusWriter (talk) 21:48, 25 January 2017 (UTC)

Would you mind doing the rev del for this article for the copyvio? I G12ed it on accident because I thought it was a newly created page by the SPA that edited before. I'm also suspicious of the text that came after the the 2014 revision I restored might be a copyvio, but I can't seem to find a source for it. TonyBallioni (talk) 20:25, 2 February 2017 (UTC)

Sure. I've rev-del'd the edits until 2014 and added a notice to the talk page. IMO, I wouldn't worry too much about the current text, it is both minimal and commonplace enough to be a non-infringement. Cheers. CactusWriter (talk) 20:33, 2 February 2017 (UTC)
I agree. The CSD was an accident because I thought I got there from the New Pages Feed and had checked the history, when I had done it for an article about one of his albums. Things that happen after a long day. Thanks for the help. TonyBallioni (talk) 20:37, 2 February 2017 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Constituent country

The speedy was contested, it was clearly written in the talk that the reason for deletion does no longer apply, as sources by ons.gov.uk and lse.ac.uk have been found. More sources at https://scholar.google.com/scholar?q=%22Constituent+country%22 , http://www.jstor.org/action/doBasicSearch?Query=%22Constituent+country%22&acc=on&wc=on , https://www.google.com/search?tbs=bks:1&q=%22Constituent+country%22. Therefore it is requested to temporarily restore the page to have a proper discussion and let users make improvements to the page. This is done per Wikipedia:Deletion review#Steps to list a new deletion review "Before listing a review request please attempt to discuss the matter with the closing admin as this could resolve the matter more quickly." 85.180.38.21 (talk) 18:07, 13 February 2017 (UTC)

85.180.38.21, the article was deleted as WP:G4 --a page sufficiently identical to one deleted per a deletion discussion. A comparison of the original deleted article [1] with the new one [2] showed no improvement. In fact, it was substantially worse. While the original contained several sections of substantial text, boxes, a map and 33 individual citations, your "improved" version only contained the same two-sentence introduction, a single small box of three linked countries and a single citation to a google search page. I suggest that if you wish to make a substantially improved article that addresses all the issues raised in the AFD, then you should create one in draft space first (See Wikipedia:Articles for creation) and submit it for review by experienced editors before placing it the main space. Regards. CactusWriter (talk) 18:42, 13 February 2017 (UTC)
That is not correct, the deletion discussion claimed it was a made up term. Now sources are given that this wrong. If the old version had more information, then undelete that as well. You were not allowed to speedily delete it, as G4 states it is not applicable if the original reason for deletion is no longer applicable. WP:G4 -- It excludes [...] pages to which the reason for the deletion no longer applies -- 77.179.131.44 (talk) 21:08, 13 February 2017 (UTC)
The AFD was based on the problem of original research including a synthesis of sources. Please read WP:OR to understand the full context of this issue. As stated, the latest version was minimal and did nothing to address the problems. You are welcome to use WP:AFC to build a valid article -- or WP:DRV can be accessed for redress. deleting page Case solvers hungary

Hi! I would like to ask why you deleted my page about Case Solvers earlier today. Thank you Toma.fani — Preceding unsigned comment added by Toma.fani (talkcontribs) 19:59, 13 February 2017 (UTC)

Hi, Toma fani. The page was deleted per WP:G11 -- as an article which was promotional of the topic and would have required a fundamental rewrite to meet Wikipedia criteria for neutral point-of-view. The page was also tagged for WP:A7 -- as an article about an organization which lacked a credible assertion of significance, but I've made no judgement on that matter.CactusWriter (talk) 20:29, 13 February 2017 (UTC)

Question about SPI case/Hammadsaeed

Hey CactusWriter. I did some digging, looking for other potential sock/meat puppets of User:Hammadsaeed, and I came across this editor[3], whom struck me as suspicious. Notice that their signature is completely identical to the blocked sockpuppet. I would suggest putting the editor up for CheckUser, just in case. I see they've been around since 2006, but that is still way too much to of a coincidence.Boomer VialHolla! We gonna ball! 00:15, 2 March 2017 (UTC)

Hi Boomer Vial. That editor's history demonstrates an entirely different profile -- and, actually, they had been reverting Hammadsaeed on other articles. Hammadsaeed began copying their signature later (after Feb 25). But thanks for keeping an eye on this problem. It will be ongoing. As the checkuser at the SPI said, there were no sleeper accounts found, but we can expect new socks to register. Cheers. CactusWriter (talk) 16:35, 2 March 2017 (UTC)
Just wanted to make sure. Cheers! Boomer VialHolla! We gonna ball! 20:51, 2 March 2017 (UTC)

Deletion of 1xpism

You have called my page of 1xpism (my religion) a "hoax". A hoax on wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Criteria_for_speedy_deletion#G3._Pure_vandalism_and_blatant_hoaxes) is said to be "Blatant and obvious misinformation", however pages such as "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christianity" and "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddhism" are allowed to exist even though they would fall under the category of a hoax. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AlexSquirrel (talkcontribs) 23:59, 4 March 2017 (UTC)

AlexSquirrel, any sources? Otherwise, an article on "your religion" might have been better deleted as WP:A11 -- something obviously invented or made-up. I suggest you try to find more constructive areas in which to contribute to Wikipedia. CactusWriter (talk) 02:51, 5 March 2017 (UTC)
This seems extremely unfair. As I already stated other pages on religion are allowed to exist, where are their sources? I do not understand why you allow some religions to have wikipedia pages but others to not have wikipedia pages. AlexSquirrel (talk) 13:26, 5 March 2017 (UTC)

I ended up remaking the page, filling in more info, I will now get some people who know more about her than I do to help me fill out more info, as, I got the bare essentials, meaning that its good to use to figure out who she is, but not enough to do a report. IP:188.210.147.63, I'm sorry, but none of those links appear to be useful as reliable sources. Performance videos, sales websites, press agent sites and self-made videos are invalid sources for an article. (See WP:RS) Single mention in an article about another person (e.g., Persinesque Magazine) does not satisfy the requirement for significant coverage (See WP:GNG). However, I do not read or speak Farsi, so I am not going to be the best editor to check sources on this. Wikipedia:WikiProject Iran or WP:AFC are better places to seek help. Good luck with your editing. CactusWriter (talk) 21:47, 22 March 2017 (UTC)

R. Chandrasekaran page deletion

I created a page of R. Chandrasekaran . You deleted because you felt that the articles are copied. I want to say that please read that article once again. Already it is self and simple written describing about his occupation in the company and his university education. I even cited all the articles to show that the information is genuine. I didn't mention too much about his life in depth because of the fear of deletion action by you.

Consider a sentence given in any article in the Internet like "Peter is the CEO of XXXX company". Now If I want to make an article in Wikipedia about Peter and want to highlight his occupation, then I have to write in the wikipedia article that "Peter is the CEO of XXXX company" and cite it from where I have taken it. What else can I change in this sentence ?

So, I just want to tell you that the article is really self written and has very direct information. I request you to undo your deletion. Thank you.

--Tigerson1995 (talk) 02:30, 25 March 2017 (UTC)

Hi, Tigerson1995. The page was actually speedy deleted per WP:A7 -- a failure to make a credible assertion of significance. At the time of deletion, it was concurrently tagged for WP:G12 copyright violation, so that link was automatically included during the deletion process. But I agree that copyright violation was not a valid issue and that was not the reason for deletion. Sorry for any confusion. I see that you have recreated the page already. Constituent country as redirect

Hi. I noticed you recently deleted Constituent country. I understand the reasons for this, but I am aware that the term itself is not made up. As a result I have redirected it to Country (disambiguation)#Administrative divisions. I hope this is okay.

Also, I was wondering about the page Constituent state. Surely all the justifications for deletion which apply to Constituent country also apply to that article? It seems bizarre that there is an article comparing the associated states of the Realm of New Zealand to the local councils of Palau, which happen to be called "states", but no article pointing out the similarities between the Countries of Denmark and the Countries of the Netherlands.

In addition, another one of the issues brought up in the deletion discussion was that Autonomous administrative division and List of autonomous areas by country are near carbon-copies of one another (and the latter article does not actually list the areas "by country").

Finally, there exists a stub which appears to not be a unique concept, but rather another name for something like a federacy, but the only example (Ethiopia) is actually a federation.

Thanks, DrewMek (talk) 17:56, 13 April 2017 (UTC)

Hi, DrewMeek. I'm sorry but I don't have enough knowledge of this topic to give an informed opinion. (My involvement with the latest deletion was simply to gauge whether or not the recreated page essentially duplicated the version previously deleted by AfD.) If you believe an article does not meet the criteria for inclusion on Wikipedia, than you can create an AfD discussion. Otherwise, you might wish to raise the issue with the editors who commented on the AfD or those involved in a Wikiproject like WP:WikiProject Politics. Good luck with your editing. The article has been deleted 5 times now. Ah, okay. I could not figure out why these were tagged as Attack pages. As far as changing the tag to promotional, they don't qualify. Although neither is particularly encyclopedic -- especially for lack of adequate referencing -- they are both in Draft Space which allows editors to review them for their faults. Hi, Carlo Dorio. The page was deleted because it was created using text copied from a published copyrighted source. I see that you have recreated the page in draft space again using text copied from the same source -- and it has again been speedy deleted as a copyright violation. Please note that Wikipedia cannot use any text copied from sources which are not either in the public domain or licensed under a Creative Commons CC-BY-SA. Please carefully read the information on your talk page advising you about this -- and the blue links which provide further clarification. Essentially, it means that Wikipedia pages should be created from scratch using only original language. If you have further questions, please ask. Regards. Daniel J. Arbess

Hello there, Daniel_J._Arbess was deleted du to Unambiguous copyright infringement of https://quip.com/qFp0AJvgWVzo. The referenced page was actually sourced off the WP article and can definitely be removed, or explicitly marked CCSA compliant. I've actually learned a lot from your talk page and your good will to educate the average civilian on how WP works, and hope I will be able to benefit from the same constructive approach this time around also. Can you please restore the page? Thanks! Ddoke (talk) 12:06, 15 May 2017 (UTC)

Hi, Ddoke. I have taken a more in-depth look at the deleted article. And you are correct: some of the language on Wikipedia predates the July 2015 bio on quip.com and would therefore not be a copyright violation of that page. However, a deeper look at the article history shows the article appears to have been founded on closely paraphrased language from a bio on the Perella Weinberg Partners website. And the latest version of the article that I deleted included copied text that appeared on the www.pwpartners.com website at least as early as 2011. [4] Therefore, I cannot restore the article because that in itself would be a copyright violation. Additionally, beside the copyright issues, the article was tagged and deleted because of overly promotional language. (Which is typical when biographies are based upon the individual's self-published resume or bio.) I do think this individual is notable enough for a biographical page. I suggest that you create an article in draft space using only original language and restricted to unadorned facts as stated in independent reliable sources. Cheers. Moldova Veche

Hi! I see that you have deleted the article Moldova Veche on May 20th. The reason given was "G7. Author requests deletion.". User:Biruitorul created the page as a redirect years ago. However, I was the actual author of the article - I translated it from the corresponding article on German Wikipedia earlier the same day. I, being the real author of the article, have not requested a deletion, and would in fact have objected to it. Moldova Veche is a historical town and as such a valid topic. I question why we cannot have an article about this town on English Wikipedia, just like they do on German Wikipedia. Notice also that User:Biruitorul has recreated the page (hours later) as a redirect. It seems to me that the page was improperly deleted. A page with actual content should not be deleted only to reappear as a redirect. I ask for the deleted article to be restored. Best regards, Alfons Åberg (talk) 01:48, 21 May 2017 (UTC)

Hi, Alfons Åberg. Thanks for letting me know. Yes, I see now that Biruitorul created only the original redirect but that you built the recent article from . Biruitorul should have opened a merge discussion before removing/merging any text or requesting deletion. (IMO, the article should not be merged -- especially given the decent-sized article on the German Wikipedia.) I am restoring the article and notifying Biruturol that a discussion is required prior to any merge action. Let me know if there are any problems. CactusWriter (talk) 18:46, 21 May 2017 (UTC)
Hi! Thank you for restoring the article! I think it will now be possible to have a more constructive discussion about the aqrticle's content. Best regards, Alfons Åberg (talk) 02:26, 22 May 2017 (UTC)

Need help please

Hello, my new article on the neurological procedure "Neuravive", for the treatment of Essential Tremors got a speedy deletion. I don't understand why it says my references are copyright infringements and links for promotions, when they are clinical research findings quoted from NIH, FDA and a website with great sources of education for patients and their families. I need help to fix this, I followed the guidelines and even put my article for editor's review first (understand this is my first time)...and I did it because there are no reference in Wikipedia about this procedure, and if not allowed, how patients will even know it exists? This is for educational purposes only. Thank you very much! YBMPHepi (talk) 17:45, 22 May 2017 (UTC)YBMPHepi Yanina Bernhardt, LND, MPH Epidemiologist

Hello, YBMPHepi. A page about the procedure does exist at High-intensity focused ultrasound (MRgFUS). The page Neuravive was created using language (directly copied or closely paraphrased) from http://tremoreducation.com/treatment/ , a promotional website for Neuravive. Wikipedia cannot accept any text which is already published and not explicitly licensed into the public domain or by a Creative Commons share-alike license. Otherwise it is a copyright violation. Please note that Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and they must be removed immediately. Moreover, any language which promotes or advertises a particular product is also inappropriate for an encyclopedia.(See WP:PROMO). If you wish to contribute, than the article about MRgFUS would be a good place to start. Cheers. CactusWriter (talk) 21:54, 22 May 2017 (UTC)

Unblocking User:BukhariSaeed

Hello.

I am one of the bureaucrats on Urdu Wikipedia. This is with regard to unblock request by User:BukhariSaeed. The user has made significant contributions on Urdu Wikipedia, especially in connection with theology and more specifically about Christianity and Islam. He appears to neutral, moderate and secular in his views, takes criticism positively and strives for more better contributions.

I therefore request you to kindly unblock the user with the condition of prohibiting sockpuppetry and any other concern you may have. I am also ready to explain your concern to the user in his plain language.

I am sure that the user will be a valuable asset for English Wikipedia NOW as he is for Urdu Wikipedia. Umpteen thanks in advance. --Muzammil (talk) 09:22, 25 May 2017 (UTC)

Hello, Muzammil. User:BukhariSaeed (formerly User:Hammadsaeed) was first blocked at the end of February for edit warring and disruptive ending, then blocked a few days later for vandalism and finally blocked indefinitely in March for a massive campaign of disruptive editing by sock puppetry. At the same time that BukhariSaeed was swearing over and over in unblock requests that they would abide by the rules, the editor began disruptive editing and sock puppetry on Simple Wikipedia which eventually produced an indefinite block for edit warring there, too. Although BukhariSaeed was offered English Wikipedia's Standard Offer to wait for six months before returning, they refused. [5] And then blanketed the UTRS system with multiple requests which resulted in a one year ban there. Even on the Urdu Wikipedia, it appears that BukhariSaeed has had problems with copyright violations and with having their User Permissions reduced as recently as April. All of this — the lack of cooperation, the edit warring, the disruption, the sock puppetry and the impatience — demonstrates a lack of maturity. (Not atypical of young editors.)
I do appreciate that you have taken BukhariSaeed under your tutelage. Mentoring is a great thing. However, at this time, I am not in favor of their return to English Wikipedia. I don't think it is too much to ask for a user to wait 6 months as a good-faith demonstration of maturity and patience. If BukhariSaeed requests the standard offer in November, it will be available. In the meantime, with your mentoring, the Urdu Wikipedia will benefit from their contributions. Cheers. CactusWriter (talk) 16:36, 25 May 2017 (UTC)
Bukhari did ask for revoking his user right/privilege once, which I did and granted it back when he requested. He was blocked by another sysop for a few hours, but it was not exactly called for, hence I revoked it. The user seems to getting ahead of these.
Respecting your position as a sysop and points you've raised, can I discuss the issue again after a fortnight or so? --Muzammil (talk) 17:39, 25 May 2017 (UTC)
Muzammil, I think my reasons are clear. The issue for BukhariSaeed will still be the same in two weeks. I will be happy to discuss it with them in six months. Thank you. CactusWriter (talk) 18:53, 25 May 2017 (UTC)

Kishore Buxani

We're now seeing another iteration from Sepialine (talk · contribs · count). Thanks, GABgab 19:56, 2 June 2017 (UTC)

New article is substantially different from the one at Kishore Buxani and is not as blatantly spammy as the recent deleted version. Although there is still some invalid "press-release"-type sourcing, It's not speedy-able. And the SPA editor has not fallen afoul of sock rules. CactusWriter (talk) 14:40, 5 June 2017 (UTC)

Deleted Page: Daniel J. Arbess

Hello,

I've been contracted by Daniel Arbess to get his Wikipedia page live again. According to the deletion log, it was deleted on May 18 for unambiguous copyright infringement. However, the links that are given in reference to that don't seem to work.

Could you provide me with the links to the supposed infringed content so that we're able to clear it up?

Thank you,

--Gtct001 (talk) 17:06, 26 June 2017 (UTC)

Gtct001, I've previously outlined that information in the discussion above titled Daniel J. Arbess. (See User talk:CactusWriter#Daniel J. Arbess). I suggest that you also carefully read Wikipedia's guideline concerning Conflict of Interest and policy on Paid Editing. Regards. CactusWriter (talk) 19:55, 27 June 2017 (UTC)

Mandyada Shri Shiradi Sai Baba Mandir

Another version of a multiply created article has been created by Pranerao, after you put a page protection on Mandyada Shri Shiradi Sai Baba Temple and after multiple attempts to create Mandyada Shri Shiradi Sai Baba.

Should I post another CSD? Or, can we go straight to a deletion with a page protection for that name as well?

Thanks!

Carole

I added a CSD tag to the article. Sorry, I forgot to sign the wikipedia way earlier.–CaroleHenson (talk) 19:17, 26 June 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for the notice, CaroleHenson. I've deleted the article -- again. This time the page was filled with copyvio images which were among ~30 copyvio images this user uploaded to Commons. Those are being deleted as well. Because of all the previous times they have been warned about copyright violation, I have blocked Pranerao indefinitely. CactusWriter (talk) 19:42, 27 June 2017 (UTC)
Ok, thanks.–CaroleHenson (talk) 22:04, 27 June 2017 (UTC)

Question

Hello, I believe this article should'be reinstated https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Fuad_Alakbarov&action=edit&redlink=1 because the sources come from very reliable websites.--User:Azerifactory) 13:29, 4 July 2017 (UTC)

Hi, Azerifactory. The original article created in 2015 was deleted at AFD because of a consensus that the individual failed notability requirements in addition to non-reliable sourcing. The recent recreation of that article was unaltered. CactusWriter (talk) 17:53, 5 July 2017 (UTC)
Thank you for answering the my enquiry. I assume the person needs to achieve something big to stay here such as a governmental award? On non-related to enquiry, I want to complain about one user in different Wikipedia, where I can report his conduct? As admins in other Wikipedia are too soft with him.--Azerifactory (talk) 18:19, 5 July 2017 (UTC)
Sorry, but I have no administrative involvement outside of English Wikipedia. You may wish to discuss your issue with someone here who is also active on that different Wikipedia, or consult with one of these individuals. CactusWriter (talk) 18:37, 5 July 2017 (UTC)

My article is significant and so important to its subject

Good day Mr. CactusWriter, first of all I will like to solemnly thank you all for your hard work on on making sure that this great encyclopedia is moving well and forward, a big regards to the Wikimedia Foundation and the Director, Katherine Maher for her wonderful well done jobs. It has been my pleasure finding myself here as an editor and I've 100 percent taken my time to know and read more about Wikipedia guidelines and also how to add values to the house. Upon that i took my time and decently wrote an article of a notable, significant and important icon (Isyaku Muhammad Baba) to add much value to this wonderful encyclopedia and all required informations i know was provided and also all proficient references and citations where done of which will be re-editted by me time to time to see that all requirements are made available. After the delivery of my first article i took my time to tag it with relevant categories, information and links to ensure the quality of the content. It will be of my greatest gratitude if my articles are retrieved because i stood bold to get it here and will keep updating it with relevant informations and references.

Thanks, Mr. CactusWriter (Admin) Mrniger (talk) 05:37, 16 July 2017 (UTC)

Hi, Mrniger. The article Isyaku Muhammad Baba was tagged for WP:A7 speedy deletion (by another administrator) because there was no credible assertion of significance. I agreed with their assessment: a 17-year-old blogger with their own blog is not notable of itself. And found that neither of the 2 independent references were about the individual nor even mentioned them -- only that this person had commented on the articles in the comments section. Therefore, the article was deleted. Please note that this does not in any way diminish the importance of a person -- it simply means that the person does not yet meet the Wikipedia criteria for an encyclopedic biography. If you wish, I can restore the page into draft space. This might allow you time to build a version with credible independent reliable sources which describe. However, in its current form it does not meet Wikipedia standards. Let me know. Regards. CactusWriter (talk) 17:51, 16 July 2017 (UTC)

Undeserving poor

Are you sure you read my response to the speedy delete notice placed on Undeserving poor on Talk:Undeserving poor ? --Penbat (talk) 07:43, 17 July 2017 (UTC)

Yes, I did. And agreed with the talk page reply that you received there. (Perhaps you missed it?) The AFD consensus was that the term "undeserving poor" was inappropriate as a redirect because it could be vaguely related to many different pages. The opinion was also that the topic could be created as a standalone article. It is agreed that the term originates with Elizabethan-era Poor Laws, but it also arises in context to Victorian-era workhouses as well as the many recent books and articles that use the term in modern context of American social policies. There is no objection to creating a page if you desire -- there's a lot of references for it. CactusWriter (talk) 17:58, 17 July 2017 (UTC)

Jay Leach

Hey there, you recently reverted my edit here: [6]. Could you tell me what the "claim of significance" would be in this case? Greedo8 19:52, 31 July 2017 (UTC)

Hi, Greedo8. The article does assert some significance as a longtime coach in the professional ranks. Which is enough to pass CSD, even if that is not enough to meet the notability guidelines at WP:NATHLETE. I also noted that the article has been in place for many years and has been edited previously by members of the Ice Hockey Wikiproject -- suggesting the article doesn't require immediate or speedy deletion. I don't disagree with your arguments about notability, but those are more appropriate to an AFD discussion. CactusWriter (talk) 20:11, 31 July 2017 (UTC)
Thank you. Greedo8 20:50, 31 July 2017 (UTC)

National Capital Presbytery

Dear CactusWriter -- Thank your for your careful review of the article "Draft:National Capital Presbytery Global Mission Network". Please restore this article immediately. I am in the process of building this page with a group of people, and the material on it is used with permission. I have just seen your e-mail about its deletion (which apparently occurred sometime in the last four hours), so I did not have the opportunity to click on "contest this deletion" and add the text Wikipedia request for material used with permission. You really need to provide people more time than a few hours to respond to a request like this. Once you restore the article, please notify me at the address below and provide at least 12 hours to respond, as I am not constantly during the day connected to e-mail and the Web.

Thank you, Howard Frost hefrost@gmail.com

Hello, @Hefrost:. Both the Draft:National Capital Presbytery Global Mission Network and the National Capital Presbytery Mission/Outreach articles were deleted as clear copyright infringement because the text was taken word-for-word from an outside published source without prior licensing. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously and any discovered violation must be removed immediately. Our due diligence is important otherwise it places our entire project at risk. Additionally, I cannot restore the text because that would be a copyright violation in itself. (It also isn't necessary because the entire text remains available on the outside website.) If you wish to license the outside text for use on Wikipedia, there are instructions at Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission and Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. However, please be aware that text appropriated from an outside source may not meet the criteria for neutral point-of-view and can be changed by any editor to comply with Wikipedia requirements. Cheers. CactusWriter (talk) 14:30, 15 September 2017 (UTC)
Dear CactusWriter -I appreciate your concern for copyright and am sorry that there wasn't sufficient time before the article was deleted to comply with Wikipedia's copyright guidelines, which I could have easily done. I suppose technically it could be a copyright infringement for you to re-post material I affirmed was being used with permission, but it would certain be kinder for you to do this and to give me some time--like a day--to make good on the pledge to add Wikipedia's necessary copyright words than to make me re-create the page. I suppose you'll say I should have been familiar with Wikipedia's copyright statement requirements from the outset and that I should have known I could lose my page immediately after posting if I were to put it up without the required language. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hefrost (talkcontribs) 22:04, 15 September 2017 (UTC)
@Hefrost:, all editors on Wikipedia are essentially anonymous -- anyone can register and represent themselves as anyone. Therefore, we simply cannot accept someone's statement or pledge without going through the proper technicalities. This protects both Wikipedia and the legal rights of the outside source. I am glad that you understand and appreciate the responsibility of this. CactusWriter (talk) 15:46, 16 September 2017 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Draft:Joshua Travagli

Whilst I agree with the deletion (based on sockpuppetry), I do not agree with the reason. G4 should not apply to drafts - the whole point of them is to incubate articles that are not yet ready for mainspace, including those that have been deleted previously. Pinging @Sir Sputnik and VQuakr: for their comments. GiantSnowman 20:32, 21 September 2017 (UTC)

Given the obvious reasons for deletion as outlined at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Draft:Joshua Travagli, and the multiple saltings of the article, there was no reason to stand on ceremony. And, no, a G5 speedy deletion based on sockpuppetry would also not apply there. I don't think there is any need to recreate another iteration of the WP:IAR versus "Letter of the Law" discussion -- especially when we all seem to agree that the end result was correct. Of course, if you wish to recreate the draft, please feel free. Cheers. CactusWriter (talk) 21:53, 21 September 2017 (UTC)
@GiantSnowman: General criteria apply to all namespaces unless noted otherwise, so G4 and G5 can be applied to drafts. WP:G4 clarifies that if the page was draftified in order to improve it (for example, if the previous deletion was due to WP:TNT) then G4 does not apply. Otherwise, the decision about whether there should be an article has already been made and it is pointless keeping a copy in draft space. We can't decide to override the policy here, so a propose to completely exclude drafts from G4 should be discussed at WT:CSD. VQuakr (talk) 21:57, 21 September 2017 (UTC)
Since I've been asked to weigh in I will, but will preface this by saying that this discussion is purely academic, since we all seem to agree that the page should be deleted, and that restoring for procedural reasons would be overly bureaucratic. I have to agree with Snowman here. While WP:G4 as general criteria does of course apply in the draft space, moving a page from the main- to the draft space is a substantial difference since the notability based reasons for the deletion from the mainspace, don't apply in the draft space. As such, I don't really see a good reason to not let the MfD run its course. But, whatever, we're here now, and in the greater scheme of things it doesn't really matter. Sir Sputnik (talk) 00:37, 22 September 2017 (UTC)
Please reread WP:G4. It can be applied to articles in draft/user space when those are used only for evasion from deletion rather than improvement. (As stated in the parenthetical but not simply to circumvent Wikipedia's deletion policy). You yourself argued in the Mfd that the sock puppeteer had previously "attempted bypass" of deletion in the same manner. And you concluded that the creator had no intention of ever improving a draft, "but is just trying force the content to just sit here indefinitely." As such, it was properly tagged for WP:G4 by VQuakr. I read the SPI case, the previous article deletions (and saltings) and the history which showed this draft was created by the sock; and concluded that both you and VQuakr were correct. The article was deleted. CactusWriter (talk) 03:08, 22 September 2017 (UTC)

  • @Zubairudalhatu:. I received your e-mail request for a deletion review of Muryar Arewa. The article was tagged and deleted per WP:A7 speedy criteria: a failure to assert any credible significance. Websites on their own are not significant -- especially one, as stated in the article, that has only been operating for 3 months and is ranked as the 10,493rd in popularity in Nigeria. Please note that this does not mean anything negative about that website -- only that it has not yet become significant enough to warrant an article. (You may wish to read WP:TOOSOON) If you wish, I can userfy the article in draft space so that you can continue to work on it to help it qualify for Wikipedia. Cheers. THE FIRST 50 YEARS - J P V MADSEN

Hi ,

I believe there is a misunderstanding in deleting my article in the sandbox Rhodyca, article that was under construction. Reasons being the following:

I am the IT Operations Manager Manager at The University of Sydney School of Electrical and Information Engineering and manager of the website at www.ee.usyd.edu.au or sydney.edu.au/eie. The School website is under migration to a new Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies website, Staff Intranet and Student learning sites. As such it was decided that our eie-history dokuwiki http://www.ee.usyd.edu.au/dokuwiki/eie-history/start be migrated onto wikipedia and linked to the new website. The current domain www.ee.usyd.edu.au will be redirected and the current websites will go offline by mid of October.

Please let me know your requirements for the article to be published. It has been created by family member RW Madsen as mentioned in the article. My email address can be found at http://www.ee.usyd.edu.au/about/technical-staff.html#rodica.popp and if required I can provide the email of Robert Madsen, the author of the article.

I'd prefer you send me the reply to my email address as soon as possible considering we are short on time for the migration.

Kind regards, Rodica Popp — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rhodyca (talkcontribs) 19:21, 1 October 2017 (UTC)

Thanks CactusWriter for the details and suggestions. On 19 Oct 2017 my wiki page (on www.ee.usyd.edu.au domain) I'm trying to move on wikipedia will be decomissioned. The material is intended as free from all restrictions on wikipedia. Considering that may I have the article restored in my sandpit and published on 19 Oct or at your earliest convenience? Many thanks and greetings from Sydney.Rhodyca (talk) 14:56, 6 October 2017 (UTC)
I'm sorry, @Rhodyca:, but no. None of the text previously published at the EIE-Wiki can be copied/migrated/restored/used on Wikipedia at anytime -- unless the licensing on the the EIE page is changed to a compatible license (i.e., CC-BY-SA 3.0, CC-BY-SA 4.0). Or the original author (RW Madsen) releases the text under the free licenses by sending an email from an address associated with the EIE publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org. If that cannot be done, than any text added to Wikipedia must be rewritten as to be original and previously unpublished. Please read WP:DONATETEXT again for the step-by-step instructions as well as examples of the language to be used. Thank you. CactusWriter (talk) 17:52, 6 October 2017 (UTC)
CC BY-SA 4.0 is not a compatible license. — JJMC89(T·C) 05:38, 7 October 2017 (UTC)
Aah! CC-BY-SA 4.0 is only Wikipedia compatible for uploading image files (I had noticed 4.0 was used over on Commons). @JJMC89:, thanks for pointing that out -- I hadn't realized it. I'm striking that from my comment above. CactusWriter (talk) 20:41, 7 October 2017 (UTC)
@CactusWriter:, I've changed the license on the http://www.ee.usyd.edu.au/dokuwiki/eie-history/start to what suggested CC Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Unported . Is it now possible to have the article restored? Many thanks, Rhodyca (talk) 03:32, 11 October 2017 (UTC)
Done Thank you for changing the license. The page has now been restored and is available at Draft:J P V MADSEN. Good luck with your editing. CactusWriter (talk) 19:13, 11 October 2017 (UTC)
Many thanks @CactusWriter:, I'm so happy to be back. Today, I've done quite a lot of reading and editing, including re-uploading the images that have been deleted. Can you please help me change the title of the page to "History_of_Sydney_University_School_of_Electrical_and_Information_Engineering". The first 50 years - J P V Madsen is just the first item. Many thanks Rhodyca (talk) 15:10, 12 October 2017 (UTC)

Currently, the article is solely about the individual JPV Madsen (including a trivial photo of him fishing which has no apparent connection to Sydney University). I suggest waiting until the article is completed at which time reviewing editors can help determine the appropriate title. CactusWriter (talk) 15:39, 17 October 2017 (UTC)

Nurjan Mirahmadi

Hi I had new media info for Nurjan Mirahmadi, with the publication of 2 books and hosting a new tv show this year, I tried making the page again with mainly this info.

Some of it is the same as last year, since it was bio content. But the new content was focused on the new tv show he's hosting on canadian televison.

Can you tell me if it still can be restored? Thanks!

Staffsmcav (talk) 08:22, 7 October 2017 (UTC)

Hi, Staffscmcav. The article that you recreated on October 1 was tagged for speedy deletion per WP:G4: a substantially identical page that was previously deleted per a deletion discussion. The new page offered no improvements for the multiple problems noted by several editors at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mawlana As-Sayed Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi. In fact, the newest version continued with large sections of highly promotional text without any referencing nor significant coverage by independent reliable sources. It was deleted for the same unanimous consensus reasons as the multiple other variations that you have created in the past year. (See Notability, Reliable Sourcing, Promotion, General Notability Guidelnes) Please understand that this does not mean anything negative about the individual or denigrate them as a person -- only that they do not meet the criteria for a biography in the encyclopedia. I would also suggest that you please read Wikipedia:Advocacy -- in that, a singular focus on promotion of a topic may be considered disruptive. Regards. Javee Mocon

I was to create pages for basketball players Davon Potts and Javee Mocon. But it seems that there was a previous Javee Mocon page that was completely fine, but has been deleted since. I would like to ask if you could restore it as there isn't really any error to the page. Salmonpepperrice (talk) 04:53, 13 October 2017 (UTC)

Hi salmonpepperrice. I will not restore the article per Wikipedia:Banning policy. However, there is currently no impediment against the article being recreated. CactusWriter (talk) 15:33, 17 October 2017 (UTC)

Arkharian language

Good afternoon to you.

I would like to know why my wikipedia page was deleted, if it is not a hoax. I feel really offended because of the fact that you think my native language is a hoax just because it hasn't been documented due to repression from several nations, including the government of Erdoğan. I'm trying to save my language and wikipedia is a way i think i could save it, i would be pleased if you could allow me to do it, it isn't a hoax, it isn't vandalism, it isn't an attack towards any group nor society. I'll wait for your answer.

Have a good day. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aeþ Eźabrekın (talkcontribs) 23:20, 22 October 2017 (UTC)

Aeþ Eźabrekın, you will need to provide independent reliable sources for your claim about a language only "spoken by 5 persons in Turkey" to be considered credible. CactusWriter (talk) 15:29, 23 October 2017 (UTC)
How can i provide "independent reliable sources" if there are none on the internet? my language was passed from generation to generation mostly orally, the only script we ever got to have was an arabic-based script, similar to the ottoman turkish one, but only my grandfather in my family knew how to write it, my father only learnt it orally and that's how i learnt it too, the rest of my family speak just some or none, because it is being assimilated by turkish. If what you need are some of the scripts my grandfather made i have some with me. And if needed, i can modify the english term "arkharian" which i made from the native name of my language "Arxar" (/äɾxäɾ/), if that's what made you believe it is a hoax. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aeþ Eźabrekın (talkcontribs) 00:12, 24 October 2017 (UTC)
If there are no independent reliable sources, than it can not be added to Wikipedia. Please read No Original Research and Not Made Up. CactusWriter (talk) 15:27, 24 October 2017 (UTC)

Restoring the page of Syed Hasan Askari

Kindly assist in undeleting and restoring the original page Syed Hasan Askari (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syed_Hasan_Askari) or the recently created draft page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Syed_Hasan_Askari) which I created earlier (due to deletion of the original one ) with the help of several wikipedia editors. I first created the Facebook page of Syed Hasan Askari (https://www.facebook.com/professorsyedhasanaskari) last year and used photographs and texts from our family albums and records as I am grandson of late Prof Askari. Then I created the wikipedia page of Syed Hasan Askari (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syed_Hasan_Askari) and recently the draft page based upon my Facebook page of Syed Hasan Askari (https://www.facebook.com/professorsyedhasanaskari) therefore it should not be in violation of copyright as both wikipedia and Facebook pages were authored by me with references. If you still have concerns with the reference of the facebook page then please remove it or restore the page so I can edit it out but kindly restore the page so academia can benefit from it. Due to this reason, requesting you to restore the page Syed Hasan Askari (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syed_Hasan_Askari) or the recently created draft page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Syed_Hasan_Askari) at your earliest possible convenience. Kindly let me know if you need additional clarification and information. Thanks in advance! Syedahmerraza, as stated recently in this response, the issue of the copyright violation (and how to resolve it) has been explained to you multiple times in multiple venues. I suggest you read them and follow their instructions. Please note that continued recreation of the copyright violation will only result in the page being deleted and you being blocked from editing on Wikipedia. Alessandro Plizzari page recreation

Hi,

Alessandro Plizzari page was deleted and blocked for creation back in June as he was not notable then. Now he's a regular player in a fully-professional second-tier Italian league Serie B and would pass the notability criteria for footballers. Is there a way to unlock the page for creation? Thanks!

Geregen2 (talk) 15:10, 10 November 2017 (UTC)

Hi, Geregen2. I've now removed the Page Protection. Cheers. CactusWriter (talk) 15:55, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
