Hans Kamta Mpongo (born 26 March 2003) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a forward or attacking midfielder for NK Tabor Sežana.

Mpongo began his senior career in non-League football with Needham Market, before transferring to Brentford in 2022. He played much of the 2022 season in Icelandic football and transferred to NAC Breda in 2023.

Club career[edit]

Early years and non-League football[edit]

A forward, Mpongo began his youth career in his native Netherlands and moved to England in 2016.[3][4] He subsequently played for a number of academies and the Dulwich Hamlet, Andover Town and AFC Bournemouth Sparsholt youth teams,[3][5][6][7] before signing a contract with Southern League Premier Division Central club Needham Market in mid-October 2021.[8] Mpongo gained his first senior experience with the club and made 16 appearances and scored four goals before departing Bloomfields in late January 2022.[9][10]

Brentford[edit]

On 31 January 2022, Mpongo transferred to the B team at Premier League club Brentford and signed a contract running until the end of the 2021–22 season, with the option of a further year.[10] He made eight B team appearances and scored one goal,[11] before spending the final two months of his contract away on loan.[11][12]

Iceland[edit]

On 12 May 2022, Mpongo moved to Iceland to join Besta-deild karla club ÍBV on loan until 30 June 2022.[11] He made five appearances,[13] before signing a permanent contract with 1. deild karla club Þróttur V on 12 July 2022.[14] Mpongo scored three goals in 9 appearances prior to his departure after the club's relegation at the end of the 2022 season.[13][15][16]

NAC Breda[edit]

After nearly a year as a free agent, Mpongo returned to his native Netherlands to sign a contract with the U21 team at NAC Breda in August 2023.[17] He made 10 U21 Divisie 2 appearances and scored one goal,[2] prior to transferring out of the club in February 2024.[18]

NK Tabor Sežana[edit]

In February 2024, Mpongo signed an undisclosed-length contract with Slovenian Second League club NK Tabor Sežana.[18][19] His four goals in 11 appearances failed to prevent the club's relegation on goal difference.[20][21]

International career[edit]

Mpongo was capped by England Schoolboys.[22]

Personal life[edit]

Mpongo moved from the Netherlands to South London in 2016.[3] He attended Sparsholt College.[23]
