Charlie Edward James Farr (born 11 September 2001) is an English professional footballer who plays as a full back for Premier League club Brentford. He is a product of the Aston Villa Academy and began his professional career with Brentford in 2022.

Club career[edit]

Early years[edit]

Beginning his career as a winger,[3] Farr began his career in the Aston Villa Academy and progressed to sign a professional contract in June 2020.[4][5] He made two EFL Trophy appearances for the U21 team during the 2020–21 season,[6] but was released at the end of the campaign.[7] Farr suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in July 2021 and spent the 2021–22 season in rehabilitation.[4][8]

Brentford[edit]

Following a trial with Barnsley,[9] Farr joined the B team at Premier League club Brentford on trial in August 2022.[4] He was deployed as a full back in three friendly matches.[4] On 1 September 2022, it was announced that Farr had signed a one-year contract, with the option of a further year.[4] Farr was included in the first team squad for its mid-season training camp in Girona.[10] The one-year option on Farr's contract was exercised at the end of the 2022–23 season, with a further one-year option attached.[11]

Farr was included in the first team squad for its opening 2023–24 pre-season friendly versus Boreham Wood, during which he came on as a half-time substitute.[12] By virtue of being overage, Farr was named in Brentford's 25-man squad for the first half of the 2023–24 Premier League season.[1][13]

Personal life[edit]

Early in his Brentford spell, Farr roomed with former Aston Villa Academy teammate Aaron Pressley.[14]
