How To Make Bu Lan Dan Mek


  • Bu Lan Dan Mek is a Thai traditional dessert. Its taste is quite-sweet. It made by the palace. Maker get inspiration from “Bu Lan Loy Luean” song .The word “Bu Lan” means the moon.
The color of pea flower represents the sky and eggs are used in the middle to represent the moon. This dessert shows us about the beautiful moon. It is popular in King Rama 2 period. 

Equipment for cook[edit]

  • Measuring Cup
  • Steamer
  • Ta-Lai cup around 5-6 cup
  • Spoon


The Ingredients[edit]

  • 120 grams Coconut milk
  • Blue pea flower
  • 10 grams rice flour
  • Salt
  • Yolk
  • 20 grams tapioca
  • Jasmine water
  • 20 grams sugar
  • 60 grams icing sugar


Step[edit]

  • 1.Boil Blue pea flower and Squeeze them into the blow.

  • 2.Mix rice flour with coconut milk together. Pat them dry and place in a mixing blow.
  • 3.Mix yolks with icing sugar. Stir yolk and icing sugar until they become homogeneously.

  • 4.Mix rice flour with water. Softly pour water into rice flour be careful don’t let too much water. Then stir them together.
  • 5.Add syrup and Blue pea flower water.
  • 6.Make hot Ta-Lai cup. Bring Ta-Lai cup into steamer until Ta-Lai cup is getting hot temperate.
  • 7.Drop the ingredient that we prepare at first into Ta-Lai cup in 3/4 of steaming pot over high heat. Stir until combined and add in to the cup quickly. Close the lid and steam for 2-3 minutes. Then bring it out of steamer and scowl it.
  • 8.Drop yolk with icing sugar that we prepare at first into middle hole.

  • 9.Bring it into steamer one more time around five minute.

Warning[edit]

  • When you steaming at first time be careful don’t let more than three minute because the flour will be too ripen then it has not hole for you to pour yolk in the middle.
