The E. W. Gillett Company was a North American food products manufacturer founded in 1852. It was merged into Standard Brands in 1929.

The E. W. Gillett Company was founded in 1852 in Chicago. Its headquarters were at 9–15 River Street.[1]

The Canadian branch of Gillett company was founded in Toronto in 1886 by William Dobie.[1] The company manufactured Royal Yeast, Magic Baking Powder, Gillett's Lye and other products for Canada and international markets. Its first factory was 32–34 Front Street West.[2] The company was incorporated in 1901. The factory was destroyed in the 1904 Great Fire of Toronto. It moved to a new factory at 276 King Street West at Duncan in Toronto. In 1912, it built a new complex further west at Liberty Street and Fraser Avenue. It occupied the factory complex until the 1980s. After being abandoned for twenty years, the main building of the complex was renovated into office space in the 2000s. Magic Baking Powder continues to be manufactured in Canada.

In 1929, the company was merged with several others to form Standard Brands.[3] Standard Brands eventually was merged with Nabisco Inc., which was in turn, merged with Kraft Foods, which was in turn, merged into Kraft Heinz.
