I've added

Your userpage is for anything that is compatible with the Wikipedia project. It is a mistake to think of it as a homepage: Wikipedia is not a blog, webspace provider, or social networking site

which is taken directly from WP:UP. I've seen a reasonable number of About Me articles which read like a myspace entry userfied to User:Aboutme. This clarifies what shouldn't be there, hopefully. Also a small wording addition to explain the term "userpage", which is used in the WP:UP extract. Tonywalton  | Talk 16:51, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

October 2010[edit]

Unless anyone objects, I propose to alter this so that, instead of

A "userpage" at username, however, is available...

it reads

A "userpage" at User:username, however, is available...

The present wording is confusing, especially in the not uncommon case where User:Imawesome makes an encyclopedia page "Imawesome" about himself. JohnCD (talk) 18:04, 9 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Done it: seems to work OK. JohnCD (talk) 19:39, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Link changed to point to WP:Autobiography[edit]

I have also boldly changed the link from "about yourself" in the first line to point to WP:Autobiography which seems to me a better destination than the former "WP:Vanity guidelines" which redirected to WP:COI. JohnCD (talk) 17:46, 24 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
