Whoa. Heavy, man.[edit]

Request for edit[edit]

The language on this template is overly forceful, and is out of step with the tone of our other templates. In particular the phrase "will not be tolerated" and the excessive use of bolding. Compare these two:

Template:Spam4
This is your last warning. The next time you insert a spam link, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted from Wikipedia.
Template:Spam4im
This is the only warning you will receive. Your recent insertion of spam, commercial content, and/or links will not be tolerated. The next time you insert commercial content and/or links into a page, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia.

Can this template be made less "wrath of god" like and more calm and professional, please.

I've toned it down some. It needs to be a firm warning without being abusive. ---J.S (T/C) 21:24, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Request for unprotection[edit]

This page is protected "just in case" despite having never been vandalised. The Wikipedia:Requests for page protection area doesn't lend itself to real discussion, and my request for unprotection there was declined.

If we're going to have protection creep like this and extend prophylactic protection, we'd better first work it out on Meta and then update Protection policy.

 • It looks like it's only linked from 111 pages. I Don't think unprotecting would be a bad idea... I'll let someone else more experience dealing with these templates comment on it however. ---J.S (T/C) 21:18, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling[edit]

Please change "ip address" to "IP address". After looking at the misspelling for 2 days on many user talk pages I cannot stand it anymore. Flyingtoaster1337 16:46, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Also linked it, just for good measure. Luna Santin 22:24, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Moved documentation[edit]

Hi, I've moved the documentation from this Talk page to the Template:Spam4im/doc subpage, as recommended in Wikipedia:Template doc page pattern. Please edit the template to:

This is the only warning you will receive. Your recent insertion of spam, commercial content, and/or links {{{}#if:{}|to :{}}} is prohibited under policy. Any further spamming may result in your account and/or your IP address being blocked from editing Wikipedia. <!-- Template:Spam4im (Fourth level warning) --><noinclude>

<!-- Add cats and interwikis to the /doc subpage, not here! -->
</noinclude>

Thanks. +mwtoews 04:49, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Luna Santin 05:05, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please change to nuvola[edit]

editprotected Please change the picture from Image:Stop hand.svg into Image:Stop hand nuvola.svg. Alexius08 is welcome to talk about his contributions. 10:01, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Done, seems uncontroversial. Cheers, Alex Muller 10:32, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
