Image in reference[edit]

As far as I can see, this template is used to create references for inclusion in English Wikipedia articles. It is not appropriate for there to be an icon of the medal included in Reference lists. I propose to remove the icon from the output of this template, as in {{Ruheroes/sandbox}}. Does anyone have any thoughts? PamD 15:27, 7 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Agree, icon not needed in a reference. MilborneOne (talk) 18:45, 7 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes the icon is unnecessary and should be removed. Anotherclown (talk) 22:30, 7 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Agree, it isn't needed. Kges1901 (talk) 22:05, 8 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Altenmann: Pinging creator of the template. Have also left messages at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Military history and Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Orders, decorations, and medals. PamD 09:04, 8 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

the image was to distinguish whether it was Hero of the soviet union or Hero of labor. i agree it is not that critical in reflist. - üser:Altenmann >t 15:17, 8 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment Looking at Vladislav Volkov for example, have awards in the infobox is great but I don't see the value of the image in the footnote. If others feel more strongly though, I'll defer to them. RevelationDirect (talk) 09:18, 10 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Resolved

OK, after a week and no dissenting voices I've removed the "Star" section of the template, commented out the section about it in the documentation, removed examples using it. I hope all is well. PamD 09:18, 14 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
