The template is updated when Stats NZ releases their annual subnational population estimates, which is usually around late October (the last release was on 22 October 2019). There is another template, {{data New Zealand}}, which uses the same calculation methods as Stats NZ's population clock and, therefore, is more up-to-date.Lcmortensen (mailbox) 01:05, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
