Discussion[edit]

There's a lot of activity in this area, and a lot of complex infrastructure in place, much of it incomplete as of yet, this template currently contains detailed descriptions of HS numbers 1... (idiophones) but little on HS 2... (membranophones), for example, and this is of great interest to WikiProject Percussion obviously.

There are obviously some grand plans in progress. Are they documented or discussed anywhere? It's difficult to know how to help, to know what's going ahead but currently a bit quiet as opposed to what to clean up as a good idea but too ambitious and now abandoned, without a forum and its archives to get me up to speed.

There seem to be some duplicate lists of instruments by HS numbers 1... and 2..., for example. See the (new) Category:Lists of percussion instruments. Andrewa (talk) 17:36, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

One could say that this template was too ambitious, but all the work has been done in the List of aerophones by Hornbostel–Sachs number and similarly titled articles. Hyacinth (talk) 15:06, 23 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
