This is the WikiProject banner template used by WikiProject Molecular Biology to keep track of articles within its scope. All articles are categorised into Category:All WikiProject Molecular Biology articles.

Basic usage

Place this on the talk page of relevant articles:

Full usage

It is usual to remove any unused parameters from the template call.

Parameters

• category – set |category=no if, and only if, a banner is being used for demonstration or testing purposes, to prevent unnecessary or undesirable categorization. Otherwise, omit this parameter.
• listas – this parameter, which is the equivalent of the DEFAULTSORT sortkey that should be placed on all biographical articles, is a sortkey for the article talk page (e.g. for John Smith, use |listas=Smith, John so that the talk page will show up in the Smith's and not the John's of the various assessment and administrative categories. Similarly, for topics with titles beginning with an article such as "the" or "a" - e.g. for The Matrix, use |listas=Matrix, The so that the talk page will show up in the Matrix's. This is important because it is one source used by those who set DEFAULTSORT on the article; consider also setting the DEFAULTSORT for the article when setting this parameter. For more information about this, please see Wikipedia:Categorization of people#Ordering names in a category. It is not required if another WikiProject template on the same page has its own {{para|listas}} set, since it affects the sortkey of all banners and templates.
• class – see #Quality assessment below.
• importance – see #Importance assessment below.

Notes and alerts

• attention – set |attention=yes if the article needs immediate attention from experienced editors. Use only if another parameter does not cover the need for attention; this should be used sparingly. It is strongly encouraged to also add a section to the talk page explaining what needs attention. This parameter populates Category:Molecular Biology articles needing attention.
• needs-infobox – set |needs-infobox=yes if the article needs an infobox. Remember that infoboxes are not suitable for all articles, and can overwhelm short articles. This parameter populates Category:Molecular Biology articles needing infoboxes.
• needs-photo – to request that an image or photograph be added to the page.

Task forces

• genetics – set |genetics=yes if the article is supported by the Genetics task force. This parameter populates Category:WikiProject Genetics articles. This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Genetics articles by quality based on the |class= parameter. This parameter uses |genetics-importance= to populate the relevant subcategory of Category:Genetics articles by importance.
• Gene Wiki – set |Gene Wiki=yes if the article is supported by the Gene Wiki task force. This parameter populates Category:Gene Wiki articles. This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Gene Wiki articles by quality based on the |class= parameter. This parameter uses |GeneWiki-importance= to populate the relevant subcategory of Category:Gene Wiki articles by importance.
• molecular cell biology – set |molecular cell biology=yes if the article is supported by the Molecular and Cell Biology task force. This parameter populates Category:WikiProject Molecular and Cellular Biology articles. This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:MCB articles by quality based on the |class= parameter. This parameter uses |MCB-importance= to populate the relevant subcategory of Category:MCB articles by importance.
• computational biology – set |computational biology=yes if the article is supported by the Computational Biology task force. This parameter populates Category:WikiProject Computational Biology articles. This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Computational Biology articles by quality based on the |class= parameter. This parameter uses |COMPBIO-importance= to populate the relevant subcategory of Category:Computational Biology articles by importance.
• biophysics – set |biophysics=yes if the article is supported by the Biophysics task force.
• signaling – set |signaling=yes if the article is supported by the Cell Signaling task force.
• RNA – set |RNA=yes if the article is supported by RNA task force.

Classification of redirects and disambiguation pages

If the |class= parameter is not defined and the WikiProject banner is placed on the talk page of a redirect (in any namespace) or disambigation page then it will automatically be classified as follows:

• Redirects will automatically be classified as Redirect-class and placed in Category:Redirect-Class Molecular Biology articles.
• Disambiguation pages will automatically be classified as Disambig-class and placed in Category:Disambig-Class Molecular Biology articles.

Classification based on namespace

In addition, if |class= is empty, undefined or unrecognized, then the class will be deduced from the namespace of the page when possible.
