Overall: @Henni147: Most of this looks good to me. Long enough, new enough and generally a nice-looking article: perhaps a touch on the laudatory/promotional side, but I don't see a real NPOV issue here. I prefer ALT0, which reads slightly better. However, on the first quotation, I don't see evidence that Ito created costumes for ballroom dance and rhythm gymnastics, only that she says that they also have their own characteristics. Is it made explicit elsewhere in the article? Happy to AGF the non-English source if so. UndercoverClassicist T·C 10:59, 5 November 2023 (UTC)

@UndercoverClassicist: Thank you very much for the review! You are right about the source. Sorry, I didn't realize that Ito was not explicitely mentioned as a designer there. Here is an English source that mentions her as a designer for rhythmic gymnastics:

Quote: "Having designed costumes for skating, rhythmic gymnastics and ballet, I questioned Ito if there were other sports she would like to design uniforms for."

Translation: "Right now, I'm just starting to create my own collection of ballroom dance costumes."

In the circumstances, I'm happy to Approve: it was already very nearly established in the existing sources, so we only needed a confirmatory nudge: the subject's word for it is good enough for me in that situation. UndercoverClassicist T·C 20:13, 5 November 2023 (UTC)

@UndercoverClassicist: Excellent. Thank you very much for your review! By the way, do you have a spontaneous suggestion how to make the content/wording sound more neutral? I would try to fix that issue before the article gets mentioned in the DYK section.

Note: I remember that at the 2019 Skate Canada competition, Hanyu's costume ripped at his waist during the step sequence, which led to a level deduction, and Ito apologized for the blooper in a public interview. However, since there is so much written about him in the article already, I wasn't sure about adding this bit of info (this page shouldn't be about Hanyu after all). I can try to look up if there has been a similar issue with other costumes. I think this is an interesting addition that would balance out the 'promotional' tone a bit. The thing that sticks out to me is the way the article is consistently focalised from Ito's perspective, with a lot of emphasis given to her thoughts/hopes/dreams and often with her as the storyteller (e.g. at the end of the "Education" section). It reads a little like an interview-feature in a magazine, where an encyclopaedia article would normally be more detached.
A few individual phrases that stick out:
  • a collaboration that would turn into the most successful of Ito's career
  • Ito eventually fulfilled her dream of collaborating with Mao Asada

Also, one ref error: "FS Cultural Book" doesn't appear to be cited (or might be cited incorrectly?). UndercoverClassicist T·C 10:10, 6 November 2023 (UTC)

@UndercoverClassicist: Thank you very much for your comments! I removed two direct quotes from Ito, including the one that you mentioned from the education section, to make article sound less like an interview. I also changed the two sentences that you highlighted above as follows:
  • Old: [...] from Hanyu—a collaboration that would turn into the most successful of Ito's career over the following decade
    New: [...] from Hanyu. It was the longest collaboration of Ito's career in the following decade
  • Old: Ito eventually fulfilled her dream of collaborating with Mao Asada
    New: Ito eventually got the opportunity for a collaboration with Mao Asada
I hope, this is a good solution, but I'm always open for better ideas. Oh, and thank you very much for pointing out the missing inline citation from the FS Cultural Book!
