- Not going to review, but the hook is a bit ambiguous, in the sense that it seems to imply that he was the first to document Christmas Island as Mony, which could mean that others had already documented the island on a map... Just not as "Mony". Sure, we know that's not true, so perhaps the hook could be slightly reworded to reduce ambiguity? Attractive and interesting article is new, long enough, has inline citations throughout, image is free. Could the concern about the hook be addressed using the wording in the article itself, i.e. 'was the first to map Christmas Island, which he labelled "Mony" in his 1666 map of the East Indies'? Once that's resolved, the article is good to go. NinaGreen (talk) 15:14, 3 May 2013 (UTC)- The original hook has been changed, and the name Goos gave the island on his map is no longer mentioned in the hook, which might be a bit confusing to Wikipedia users looking at the pictured map, where it is designated as 'Mony', not Christmas Island. - If you drop the map image, it's irrelevant, but if you keep the map image, which shows Christmas Island as 'Mony', Wikipedia readers are going to be confused when they look from the hook to the map image. I would be. The hook mentions Christmas Island, but there's no Christmas Island on the accompanying map. NinaGreen (talk) 21:53, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
