Palacio de Justicia de Caracas[edit]

Palacio de Justicia de Caracas

  • ... that before renovation work of the Palacio de Justicia de Caracas (pictured) was started it had been attacked by guerrillas of the revolutionary movement in Venezuela in September 1985 leaving 100 people dead?

Created by Ipigott (talk), Rosiestep (talk), Nvvchar (talk). Nominated by Nvvchar (talk) at 02:17, 30 May 2013 (UTC).

  • Article created new by Ipigott on 26 May 2013.
  • Subsequently expanded by Rosiestep and Nwchar.
  • Long enough: 2095 characters.
  • Major problem with hook and article: the Palace of Justice siege (see outside source) took place in Colombia's Palacio de Justica in Bogotá—not Venezuela's in Caracas. I was very confused about the narrative here until I detected this error :-) Sentence should be omitted from article and hook must be rewritten.
  • I recommend a few other changes before the article is featured by DYK:
  • Copyedit the article: the English needs a little work (translation from Spanish was part of the creation process) and there needs to be more clarity about the construction timeline. (Maybe an actual timeline with bullet points would be useful.)
  • First link is broken. (Site says it expired 30 May. Is there another source to use?)
  • Clarify some confusing elements:
  • What does it mean that the building was "inaugurated"?
  • Is this building currently operational? What happens here? Are there trials? If construction is actually still incomplete, this ought to be mentioned in the lead (and maybe even the hook).
  • List/link any agencies housed inside this palace.
Thanks for these important comments. I think I've now sorted out the main problems and therefore propose:
