5x expansion checks out. Article is adequately footnoted. I didn't see any indications of plagiarism or close paraphrasing. The "social disease" part of the hook fact is sourced and verified, but I didn't find citation support for the statement that she was Minister Without Portfolio, and I didn't even find the idea that she was "first" in the Wikipedia article. --Orlady (talk) 19:05, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
- I've cited the fact that she was a Minister without portfolio, and that she was the country's second female minister after Senator Cordell, which by default would make her the first female Minister without portfolio. --Rosiestep (talk) 19:42, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
- Good changes, Rosiestep. However, the article still does not establish that she was the first woman to be minister without portfolio, since there is no indication as to what type of cabinet position Cordell held. --Orlady (talk) 13:27, 17 May 2013 (UTC)
- After a bit more research on senator María Gómez Carbonell, I learned that she held the Minister without portfolio position in 1943, so Sabas, who held it in 1949, was not the first after all. Note to self: create an article on Carbonell. In the meantime, I've made the clarification in the Sabas article and here's ALT1: ... that Mariblanca Sabas Alomá, Cuban journalist and Minister without portfolio, considered lesbianism to be a social disease? --Rosiestep (talk) 16:08, 18 May 2013 (UTC)
- I sympathize with your disappointment/embarrassment at discovering that error -- that kind of thing happens to all of us from time to time. The new hook proposal is supported by sources, but it seems significantly less interesting than the original, though. I suggest the following as a spicier alternative:
- ALT2: ... that Mariblanca Sabas Alomá, a Cuban writer and government official known as the "Red Feminist", considered lesbianism to be a social disease?

- Actually, neither disappointed or embarrassed. I'm pleased that you encouraged me to research this some more and, along the way, I came across Carbonell, another interesting woman who, until today, was without a wikipedia article. Alt 1 good to go! (Not Alt 2, which, as it stands, I think mixes her role as govenment official with her reputation as journalist). I also edited the article slightly, and removed "and Bohemia " from the article, as it was not supported by the source. Source says that Alomá published in Carteles, while it was Ofelia Rodriguez Acosta who published in Bohemia). Oceanh (talk) 13:52, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
