Charity Bick[edit]

  • ... that Charity Bick was the youngest ever recipient of the George Medal?

Created by Pigsonthewing (talk). Self nominated at 11:38, 25 February 2014 (UTC).

  • Prose size = 2195 characters. Article created by Pigsonthewing on 24 February 2014, as stated. Conforms to WP guidelines and policies. Hook cited with reliable source. Just the QPQ to do and it's good to go.--Ykraps (talk) 19:18, 25 February 2014 (UTC)
    • It's been 2 weeks with no QPQ. I am reminding the nominator now, but if one is not done soon this will have to be closed as rejected. --ThaddeusB (talk) 06:29, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
      • Done; thanks for the reminder; appolgies for my tardiness. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 15:22, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
        • Original review said all was good except QPQ, which has now been provided. --ThaddeusB (talk) 22:01, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
          • There is close paraphrasing in these paragraphs:
  • Source: She had suffered minor injuries early in the raid, while helping her father, an ARP post warden, to put out an incendiary bomb in a roof.
  • Article: During a 1940 air raid on West Bromwich, while assisting her father, who was an ARP post warden, to put out an incendiary bomb on the roof of a shop, she suffered minor injuries
  • Source: She made three such journeys during the height of the raid, and further journeys afterwards.
  • Article: She made three such journeys at the height of the raid, and more later.
  • Source: Charity subsequently joined the Women's Auxiliary Air Force
  • Article: Bick subsequently joined the Women's Auxiliary Air Force

I'd dispute that the paraphrasing is close or voluminous enough to present a problem, but of course welcome others' views. Note that I recently reverted Yoninah's edits to these clauses, because they significantly changed their meaning {e.g. "helping... to put out an incendiary bomb" -> "attempted to defuse an incendiary bomb"). Just trying to help. Yoninah (talk) 22:49, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
And appreciated; which is why didn't revert you wholesale. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 22:55, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
I took a whack at the three examples above, Andy, revert me if I screwed it up too, but Yoninah, does this fix it for you? Montanabw(talk) 20:58, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
I thnk I've managed to rephrase the remaining examples suitably. Mary Mark Ockerbloom (talk) 03:34, 14 March 2014 (UTC)
