Contested deletion[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because every major newspaper is talking about this woman right now, and everyone wants to know about her. She obviously led an interesting life and was important to the U.S fashion world, so she deserves a blurb in wikipedia.

I should have made it a stub, sorry-- this came up in the middle of a design meeting and I was highly surprised to find she didn't have an article in Wikipedia. She's obviously notable as well as well-known, and we had a good discussion of "wikipedia myopia" after noticing the previous deletion. KenThomas (talk) 23:32, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because Kaplan did more than just die at a fashion show. Apparently she was a notable person in a certain locality (New York City/New Jersey). See this New York Times article: http://www.nytimes.com/2003/10/19/nyregion/citypeople-the-amazing-zelda.html?pagewanted=all&src=pm . Recommend going through AFD for consideration. — Guroadrunner (talk) 04:56, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because:

Zelda Kaplan seems pretty notable considering, as the article explains, in 2003 she was profiled in the New York Times, and that same year HBO premiered a documentary about Kaplan, “Her Name Is Zelda,” which followed her life from her time as a housewife until her time as a socialite. In 2006 she was profiled in The Village Voice. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.175.77.205 (talk) 18:10, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
