Separation from "Zechariah (given name)"[edit]
Keeping Zakariya separate from Zechariah (given name) and Zacharias (surname) has some advantages (cultural homogeneity, avoiding overcrowdedness), but also the serious disadvantage of separating East from West. It can become a dilemma for some when dealing with somebody like Zakaria Botros, a Christian (Coptic) priest from Egypt: I found him on the "Zechariah (given name)" page, with all the other Christians and Jews, but the name is of the Arabic variety.
