Three pubs in Nottingham claim to be oldest?
Does it mean the Bell and the Salutation as the others? I think they don't claim it any more. Hardy and Hanson own all three and push the Trip as oldest --A Geek Tragedy 16:53, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
The Bell and Salutation pages on Wikipedia both still say they're in the running... if it's no longer so, then probably all the pages need changed (and cited). 207.178.110.185 (talk) 14:52, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
Oldest pub in England?
What are the other 19 pubs (including two in Nottingham) which claim to be the oldest in England? If these details can't be provided the article should be amended to say something like "several other pubs have also from time to time claimed to be the oldest pub in England". —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shortshadow (talk • contribs) 04:15, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
- It isn't the oldest pub in England, merely the most vocal in asserting such - it's probably only the third oldest, at best. See here [1] for example. The title goes to either the Old Ferryboat, St. Ives, Cambridgeshire, or Ye Old Fighting Cocks, St. Albans (the latter recognised by the Guinness Book of Records), depending on the criteria used. ðarkuncoll 16:20, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
