Opening Paragraph

Its absolutly terrible, it goes on and on. Its not supposed to be a list of characters he has played, its supposed to be a short paragraph about him. Not a list of all his good characters. It seems that people dont want their favorite woody harrelson movie/character left out of 'notable characters' so they added them, and added them, and now its drawn out, much like this paragraph. oh and his role in 2012 is NOT notable. at all. What the hell, people. i mean, come on, he was in the movie for 5 minutes, played a minor role... i know you all like the 2012 conspiracy/hoax/theory/whatever but come on, it was a lame movie and his part didnt make the movie any better. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.196.180.191 (talk) 22:11, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

By what standard is Harrelson a comedian? Yes, he has performed in comedic roles, but so have many actors; that does not make them comedians.--Edgewise (talk) 03:33, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

Animal Rights Activism

The activism section makes passing reference to Harrelson's animal rights activism. He's been heavily involved in a lot of animal rights campaigns besides being a vegan. He's also done quite a few things with PETA, but there's no real mention of any of this except for the very brief "ethnical vegan" which could be taken to mean an assortment of things besides supporting animal rights. Someone should expand that section to include some of this, someone with more excerpts of course. Just a friendly suggestion for improvement. 07:55, 31 March 2008 (UTC) 07:55, 31 March 2008 (UTC)~

There's an article on Ethics of eating meat, but it lists several reasons why people choose not to eat meat. I'll see if I can find a source. Flowanda | Talk 20:22, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

dont be so bossy god cburnett is such a jerk ---- 67.171.156.116 (sig added by Cburnett)
Internuggler here (is that you posting anonymously as 67.171.156.116?) doesn't get WP and its policies/practices/etc. Not my fault he can't read or chooses to not read.
If you think that's me being bossy and me being a jerk, catch me on a bad day. I was downright polite for someone telling Rickk to screw off when Rickk was nowhere near at fault or being rude. If you (mystery man at 67.171.156.116) and/or Internuggler don't want to play nice with the community, then feel free to leave...I won't stop you. Or you can read policies, ask questions nicely, and be friendly with a group-like attitude and I'll be more than happy to explain things. Cburnett 07:54, 26 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Removed Poem

The poem listed wasn't availible on the link anymore so I removed it. --194.144.0.59 19:16, 19 November 2005 (UTC)

Height

I have stood next to Woody Harrelson, and he is definitely not 5'11". Unfortunately I don't have a source for his actual height (5'6" or 7", I'd guess); does anyone else know? (Maybe the user who took that picture?) Equalpants 03:10, 6 December 2005 (UTC)

Narrating a movie

The History of Marijuana on Google Video

I noticed that he narrated that movie (The History of Marijuana), but it wasn't mentioned anywhere. Should it be? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 84.248.223.109 (talk) 22:58, 9 March 2007 (UTC). he is awesome — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.48.130.20 (talk) 15:32, 9 November 2011 (UTC)

Married in 1998?

it was reported at least in finnish media today 30.12.2008 that he was married to laura loui only last weekend in hawaii. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 118.90.42.133 (talk) 11:44, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Pretty Woman Cameo

Removed this from the references section: "Woody Harrelson made a skateboard cameo appearance on PRETTY WOMAN." If you want to restore it, put it in the filmography section with the other cameo appearances. Since I don't know whether it is true or not, I will not do it myself. 24.244.94.130 (talk) 01:30, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

Early Life

Fixed some vandalism (or at least factually incorrect) information added recently which stated Harrelson grew up and attended high school in Texas instead of Ohio.

Adhd and dyslexia

I have read some place that he is diagnosed with Adhd and dyslexiaw, does anyone know if thats a fact? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hoalong (talkcontribs) 02:51, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

vandalism?

"From 2000 to present he has operated a covert liberal, potsmoking squad of "hitmen" with Willie Nelson. Their involvement in several recent political disappearances in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico will be investigated in an upcoming Chris Hansen Dateline NBC special. It is expected to air in late 2011."

Though this might be true -- Harrelson's father was a hit man, after all -- it seems more like comic vandalism. 67.170.64.149 (talk) 12:36, 25 January 2011 (UTC)

I concur - it may very well be true. After all, he's been arrested a number of times for violent acts while still finding time to serve as a "peace activist". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.64.0.252 (talk) 00:01, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

Woody's Mother

There's no source saying that Diane Lou Oswald is Woody's mother. This is particularly important, as many JFK assassination theories suggest that Woody's father Charles WAS involved in the assassination, and it is only fair to all parties to say whether a) this Diane Lou Oswald was in fact Woody's mother, and b) whether this Diane Lou Oswald was a close family relation of alleged JFK assassin Lee Harvey Oswald.

If Charles Harrelson's wife had the maiden name of Anderson, Johnson, or Smith, that wouldn't raise eyebrows. But Oswald is a rare last name, as rare as St. Pierre.

All we need is some sort of EVIDENCE that this claim about Diane Lou Oswald is true. Has it EVER been forthcoming? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jim102670 (talkcontribs) 08:17, 6 April 2011 (UTC)

Failed PR Stunt on Reddit.com for the movie Rampart

Probably on the advice of some fool PR agent, Woody posted on Reddit's Ask Me Anything (AMA) subreddit on February 3rd 2012, and proceeded to use the venue to answer questions only about his new movie. This resulted in serious backlash from the Reddit community as the post was quickly hijacked by a comment about a high school prom that Woody allegedly crashed resulting in some lost virginity and lack of a phone call. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.66.81.68 (talk) 00:58, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

I vote that this isn't (currently) notable and should be removed from the article. If it gains traction and actually becomes a notable scandal, then bring it on back. Otherwise, this seems like nothing more than just making Wikipedia a party to a hit job on Harrelson. Cowicide (talk) 06:23, 4 February 2012 (UTC)
Woody Harrelson's PR agent later responded with [[1]] 06:37, 4 February 2012 (UTC)
Such an inclusion that defames the character of a living person requires impeccable sources, and the comment section of Reddit is not included in that definition. For further details, please see WP:BLP. Thank you. ~ UBeR (talk) 07:41, 4 February 2012 (UTC)
It's an incident that happened in the reddit comments. There is no better source for that than the reddit comments. (anonymous) 23:20, 4 February 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.115.121.23 (talk)
Reddit.com is talking about this alleged incident a LOT. Just so you guys know. Lots42 (talk) 12:42, 4 February 2012 (UTC)
So what if they talk about it a lot? It still isn't noteworthy, and starting an editing war about it under his "personal life" is highly inappropriate. The only sources for this information is the comment page of his AMA, and that's not important. We need to delete the section talking about it and protect the page before more self-entitled Redditors try to blow it in to an issue. Besides, no one cared when Louis C.K. pushed his stand-up. All celebrity AMAs are just PR stunts -- But that's a discussion for another forum. Just remove the "Reddit Incident" section and protect the page for the time being. TheMightyShell
I was trying to give a warning, that's all. Lots42 (talk) 02:43, 7 February 2012 (UTC)
Another vote that this kind of information, being including in a legitimate Wikipedia page, contributes nothing of real value about the subject in question. Reddit is merely an internet forum with no real power, and the incident speaks more of Reddit's tendency as a collective to select a target and abuse them, than it does of Woody Harrelson. This is literally an attempt to shame an actor because he did not want to dignify an insincere accusation veiled as a question with a response. If Reddit wants to pretend it is some sort of socially valuable and significant medium, they should stick to updating their own page. Pigsgomoo (talk) 17:58, 4 February 2012 (UTC)
I went ahead and added that he talked with Reddit about his new movie -- that's what he did!--The lorax (talk) 19:58, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

It's hit the news sites now, can it finally be added back into the wiki? http://www.observer.com/2012/02/woody-harrelson-and-the-no-good-very-bad-reddit-ama/

I wanted to say the same thing. Can someone finaly add this?188.96.178.228 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 11:29, 5 February 2012 (UTC).
It still doesn't say anything about Woody. He got asked some weird questions, didn't respond the way the forum wanted him to, and now the Reddit forum is trying to turn a non-issue in to an issue. If anything it shows more about Reddit's mentality than anything having to do with Woody. Also, remember the rules pertaining to reliable sources, and notable circumstances. This is neither of those. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.39.190.212 (talk) 16:56, 6 February 2012 (UTC)
You, yourself have misunderstood the rules of WP or Reddit. I heard about this first on AustralianBC News. They were emphatically describing it as a major hit for Harrelson's PR. Many sources are reporting this as news. Reddit may be a primary source and therefore inadmissible but anything quoted in an article by a reliable source is fair game.--Senor Freebie (talk) 01:13, 2 March 2012 (UTC)
Another article if anyone's interested in it. Xxcom9a (talk) 01:06, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

I've gone ahead and added a short paragraph under Career: Film. I went to great pains to ensure that the edit was non-biased and provided multiple reputable sources in addition to a link to the AMA session itself. I believe the incident is noteworthy as it attracted the attention of numerous high-profile media outlets - ones not focused on celebrity gossip - and caused a significant controversy. I am placing the paragraph under the Film subsection as I believe it is noteworthy but not deserving of its own section; it is relevant to the film Rampart rather than his personal life, as the alleged student incident cannot be confirmed and should only be taken as hearsay. Nalorcs (talk) 22:19, 7 April 2012 (UTC)

It looks like someone deleted your addition without giving an explanation here. I'll restore it. Slartibartfastibast (talk) 14:46, 10 July 2012 (UTC)

Please correct film title to Ethos: A Time For Change

Please correct film title to Ethos: A Time For Change. 72.185.26.68 (talk) 01:08, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

Googling it I see that it is largely called "Ethos" and "Ethos: A Time for Change" is the name used for only one of the releases on Amazon. So I don't see any great need to change it. As it is redlinked (as Ethos (film)) the simplest thing would be to start the article (if you can supply reliable sources that prove notability) and then discuss what the article name should be - as a redlink this isn't unreasonable. Add Woody's sexual escapades?

I read sources that he womanized during his years of Cheers (1985-93). Is that necessary per WP:BLP? --George Ho (talk) 00:56, 20 October 2013 (UTC)

Orphaned references in Woody Harrelson

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Woody Harrelson's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
