this is a bit of a muddle, and I am asking for comments before I make any changes. The histories of Winnipeg North centre, Winnipeg North and Winnipeg centre are intertwined. Here is how I understand it from the Library of Parliament website:
- Winnipeg North Centre was created in 1924 and renamed Winnipeg Centre in 1997, and exists to today.
- Winnipeg North was created in 1914, renamed Winnipeg North Centre in 1997 and abolished in 2003.
- A new Winnipeg North riding was created in 2003 and continues to exist.
I propose to divide the histories as follows:
- The Winnipeg Centre article would cover #1 above.
- The Winnipeg North article would cover #2 and #3 above.
- The Winnipeg North Centre article would be a disambiguation page pointing to those two articles.
The [problem that I am trying to address is that Winnipeg North Centre 1997-2003 is not the same riding as Winnipeg North Centre 1914-1997, so they should not be in the same article. Both were later renamed. The history of a riding should be in one article throughout its chanegs of names, rather than being broken up between different articles.
