William Penn Patrick's death[edit]

It's not accurate to state that WPP died in the crash of his plane in Lakeport, California. Lakeport is on the southwestern edge of Clearlake, the biggest fresh water lake in California. WPP owned a ranch of over 100 acres in the high valley on the eastern side of Clearlake - hence the name of the ranch, High Valley Ranch. WPP flew his twin engine plane into the side of a valley on the northern edge of the ranch. The crash site is still visible today. It's a difficult steep hike down into the valley. Plane parts can be seen scattered along the hike down to the crash site. It's interesting to note that the crash occurred in early June 1973 just after the federal government's SEC issued a scathing report about fraud in the operation of WPP's multilevel marketing business, Holiday Magic. Several high level officers of Holiday Magic were eventually indicted and convicted of fraud. Samkinghawaii (talk) 23:45, 31 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
