Link removal[edit]

In this edit Anthony Staunton removed an external link. The link had been present, with the same url, for more than 10 years, but I am now getting a safety warning when I click on it, so i have not followed it. Any more information, please? Here is an archived version from 2012, the most recent version at the internet Archive. That version liiks perfectly appropriate. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 01:18, 15 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The same URL was cited as a source (a bare link which is not best practice). I have put it into a template, using the archive link above. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 01:24, 15 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I wonder when it was done? Hijacking dead-links will fool the bots. I will delete the others I have found. Anthony Staunton (talk) 04:34, 15 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The change was not made in wikipedia, Anthony Staunton but in the source site, it seems. Please do not simply delete the usurped links. Instead they should be used to find archived versions, if possible, particularly for those which were begin used as source citations.DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 06:23, 15 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Lack of citation[edit]

There is no record of William Napier and Elizabeth Slater's marriage in the Victoria Births, Deaths and Marriages records. Wondering what the source is for this.Seasalt (talk) 14:54, 20 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
