I was looking something else up and by chance found this which gives some detailed excerpts from Downie's journals of the exploration of Bute Inlet. The rambling article covers a lot of ground and raises more questions than it answers, but passages from various original sources are in it and bits of it can be used to expand this article, for anyone interested.Skookum1 (talk) 16:45, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
There's more on that lately, from a new book by a Victoria author who's name I can't recall just now; concerning Downie as an agent of the Great Smallpox Epidemic of 1862, along with Gov Douglas and others; back when I come across mention of it again.Skookum1 (talk) 10:35, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
