NPOV[edit]

I have place a NPOV disputed tag on the article. My reason for doing this is that the article is about a library in Canada and that the author is a librarian from Canada, probably from the same area as the library, as stated in the user's userpage. This leads me to think that there may be a conflict of interest, and, therefore, that the article may not be written from a neutral point of view. Tags?[edit]

Anyone object if we remove the NPOV tag and the COI tag? Possible concerns: still too much like an advertisement. Maybe we could drop one or two of the architectural awards? I don't actually seen any big problems that remain. This is a public library, not an internet spam company. Also the blow-by-blow of the history may not all be necessary. Your views please. I support of the removal of the tags. I work in a public library within Southern Ontario (no, my library is not related to in anyway), and I find articles about other public libraries within Ontario interesting. I am often amused by how similar the origin of these libraries are, and am curious how many items are circulating. These information is often within reach of insiders, and I think it is great that they are putting an effort to make them known. Certain information would not be found if the staff is excluded. According to the [Directory of SOLS] (Southern Ontario Libraries Services), Whitby has a population of 110,000. If we are comparing the size of the population it serves, it seems that WPL is similar to the library systems in townships like Kingston Frontenac (130,000) and Richmond hill ( 110,160). However, the size of the population could mean nothing.

I was under the impression that Whitby would be quite similar to Ajax, Pickering and Lindsay, but in reference to statistics it looks like I am wrong. A quick search in electronic databases leads to a related article about the architecture of Whitby Public Library, and I would paste the citation right here:

Just by looking at the picture, the architecture of WPL does look a bit like Richmond Hill, Aurora and Angus Glen. Yet, it could be because these are the central branches that I have been.

Rearranging[edit]

I split the Whitby Library today section into two parts. One section to the Brooklin Library, the remainder to he introduction. This gives a stronger lead paragraph to the article, and provides continuity to the Brooklin section. Flibirigit 16:08, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Editing by Blotto Adrift[edit]

The edits of 69.157.51.121 (talk · contribs) appear to be vandalism. He pays no attention to the fact that the COI complaint about Whitby Public Library was resolved long ago. His improvements seem to consist of removing text and images contributed by Blotto Adrift to the article. This IP may be related to the one involved in an edit war at Trenton, Ontario. In that case an IP was edit warring to include the name 'Jason Michelakos' in the article on Trenton. Admins wound up protecting that article twice, most recently stating 'Continued vandalism by anonymous IP'. EdJohnston (talk) 18:59, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
