Screech?[edit]

I've often wondered why this species (and its Eastern cousin) is called "screech owl". Its call doesn't (usually?) sound anything like a screech. Does anyone know why? Is there another kind of owl that screeches? Boris B 06:34, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
