Legal Action etc.[edit]

I have removed this quote:

"Notably some Welsh teams play in English football league system, such as Cardiff City F.C., rather than the Welsh. This has been a bone of contention with the WFA, which has threatened legal action on occasion."

as the FAW (not WFA) never threatened legal action against Cardiff, Swansea and Wrexham - the legal action is covered in the Welsh Premiership article. Blogdroed 17:35, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Before 1992?[edit]

How was the Welsh league system before 1992? Were ALL teams playing in the English league pyramid? But this can't be because a Welsh Football Association already existed. Were there just regional leagues with no nation-wide competition (if yes, where can I find information and final tables about those leagues)? Why lasted it so long to introduce the Welsh Premier League, when all the other parts of the UK founded their leagues a century ago?--31.17.92.168 (talk) 06:06, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Major Shakeup to the Top 3 Tiers of the Welsh Football league system[edit]

Tiers 1 & 2 are to change from the start of the 2019–20 season with Tier 1: Welsh Premier League to consist of 12 teams with the bottom 2 relegated to the new Tier 2: Welsh Championship (North and Mid) and Welsh Championship (South and Mid). The champions from both Welsh Championship (North and Mid) and Welsh Championship (South and Mid) will be promoted to the Welsh Premier League.

Tier 3 will change at the start of the 2020–21 season with 4 regional Welsh League 1 leagues, Champions of each league promoted to Tier 2 with 2 of 4 runners-up promoted after going through a play-off at the end of the season.

Mid Wales structure for 2020–21[edit]

Tier 4: – Mid Wales League East (16 teams) – The geographical area of the east division shall be a combination of those parts of the Area presently served by the Montgomeryshire Amateur League and the Mid Wales League South. – Mid Wales League West (16 teams) – The geographical area of the west division shall be a combination of those parts of the Area presently served by the Aberystwyth League and the Ceredigion League.

Tier 5 - The Area shall have four regions as follows; – North Ceredigion – South Ceredigion – North Powys – South Powys

Table for Divisional Structure for 20-21[edit]

This is incorrect and needs sorting out - the navigation box is as correct as I understand it now at present - the South Wales Alliance Premier is now the Tier 4 league for South Wales FA, meaning the leagues below are at Tier 5 etc - in effect a lot of the leagues have moved up a level as a result of the Pyramid restructure.
