Concerning the separate Guts book: its roots in the original story were clear, but it was very much changed to target young adults. The protagonist was made a teenager; rather than a mission to contain "radiofrenetic" material, the plot concerned people being turned into docile consumers via subliminal messages placed in music; the strong influences of Judaism in the original story were removed.
